MLB | Mets vs Dodgers
Play on: Dodgers -1½ -140 at 5Dimes

Love the Dodgers here. Kershaw hit a 'spped bump' on May 28 vs, the Cubs (lasted just 4 1/3 innings and allowed four ERs on 11 hits!) but has been back to his Cy Young Award-winning form over the last three outings. He's allowed a total of only four ERs over 21 innings (1.71 ERA). Wheeler sat out 2015 and 2016 while recovering from elbow surgery and is making his first career start against Los Angeles. In contrast, Kershaw is 8-1 with a 1.49 ERA against the Mets in 13 career starts (Dodgers are 11-2). Dodgers 3B Justin Turner has hit safely in each of his last 13 games and is batting .385 on the season. New York 3B Wilmer Flores is 3-for-27 over his last seven games.

Free Pick on Royals -

I really like the value here with the Royals at basically a pick'em at home against the Red Sox. Kansas City is red-hot right now, having won 7 of their last 8 and still have plenty of work to do to get back in the playoff race with an overall record of 33-35. I like their chances here against Boston, who is getting way too much respect here with Hector Velazquez on the mound. Not to mention they are in a bit of a letdown spot after a huge series against the Astros over the weekend. This will be Velazquez's second career start. The first was back on May 18th at Oakland, where he allowed a below-average A's offense to score 6 runs on 9 hits (3 HRs) in 5 innings of work.

Kansas City scored 7 runs on 10 hits in yesterday's win over the Angels. That was the 6th time in their last 8 games that the Royals scored at least 7 runs. Decent chance they reach that mark again. The key here is keeping Boston's offense in check and I like the Royals chances of doing that with the red-hot Jason Hammel on the mount, who is 2-0 with a 2.21 ERA and 0.885 WHIP over his last 3 starts. Take Kansas City!

Jack's Free Pick Monday: Kansas City Royals -105

The Kansas City Royals have been flying under the radar while playing their best baseball of the season of late. They are 7-1 in their last eight games overall, and their offense has come alive in scoring at least 7 runs in six of those wins.

This is a tough spot for the Red Sox after beating the Astros on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball last night, and now they'll in line for a letdown. Hector Velazquez will be making just his second start of the season after giving up 6 earned runs, 3 homers and 11 base runners over 5 innings of a 3-8 loss to the A's on May 18th.

Jason Hammel has really turned it around of late and is pitching his best ball of the season right now. The right-hander is 2-0 with a 2.21 ERA and 0.885 WHIP in his last three starts.

The Royals are 5-0 in their last five after scoring 5 runs or more in their previous game. Kansas City is 6-1 in its last seven vs. a right-handed starter. The Royals are 6-2 in their last eight meetings with Boston. Bet the Royals Monday.

GAME: Cleveland Indians (36-31) at Baltimore Orioles (34-34)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 19 - 7:05 PM EST
WHERE: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Cleveland Indians didn't have the services of Michael Brantley all weekend, so fellow middle-of-the-order sluggers Jose Ramirez and Edwin Encarnacion picked up the slack and then some. The Indians expect to welcome back their No. 3 hitter from paternity leave as they eye a season-best sixth straight victory Monday when they visit Baltimore for the first of four games against the Orioles.

With Brantley away from the team for the entire four-game set against Minnesota, Ramirez went 11-for-18 with six doubles and two homers out of the three-hole, while Encarnacion took advantage of his hot-hitting teammate with three homers and eight RBIs. Cleveland outscored the Twins 28-8 during the road sweep to improve to 21-14 away from home and overtake Minnesota atop the American League Central. Baltimore also used the weekend to get right, totaling 23 runs on Saturday and Sunday to take two of three at home from St. Louis to win a three-game series for the first time in June. The Orioles homered 10 times during their set with the Cardinals, getting two apiece from Trey Mancini, Jonathan Schoop and Mark Trumbo.

TV: 7:05 p.m. ET, MLB Network, STO (Cleveland), MASN (Baltimore)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Indians RH Corey Kluber (5-2, 4.15 ERA) vs. Orioles RH Dylan Bundy (7-5, 3.29)

Kluber was sharp over seven innings Wednesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers despite being unable to win a third straight start, settling for a no-decision after permitting two runs on four hits while fanning 10. The 2014 AL Cy Young Award winner posted his third double-digit strikeout game over his last five outings and has recorded at least eight in six of his last seven outings. Schoop is 4-for-9 with a home run against Kluber, who fanned eight over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Orioles last year.

Bundy notched only his second win since May 6 on Wednesday in Chicago thanks in large part to his offense after the White Sox tagged him for five runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks over five innings. The 24-year-old Oklahoman hasn't made it past the fifth inning in two of his last three turns and is 2-4 with a 4.50 ERA since beginning the season 5-1 with a 2.17 ERA. Bundy yielded one unearned run across five innings to pick up the victory in his only start against Cleveland last season.

WALK-OFFS

1. Ramirez has strung together six consecutive multi-hit games, batting .593 and scoring nine runs over that stretch.

2. Trumbo belted his 10th home run of the season Sunday, allowing the Orioles to join the New York Yankees as the only team to have six hitters with at least that many this season.

3. Cleveland is batting .332 with 12 doubles, 12 homers and a .308 average with runners in scoring position while outscoring foes 40-13 during their winning streak.

GAME: Cincinnati Reds (29-39) at Tampa Bay Rays (37-35)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 19 - 7:10 PM EST
WHERE: Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Florida
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Following a dreadful run against the National League West, the Cincinnati Reds can only hope a series against an interleague foe shakes them out of the rut they find themselves in at the moment. The Reds seek an end to a nine-game slide overall and hope to avoid their first 10-game road losing streak since 1998 on Monday when they play the first of three against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Cincinnati found itself in third place and two games out of the lead in the NL Central on the morning of June 9 after completing a four-game sweep of St. Louis before proceeding to go winless on a six-game west coast trip through Los Angeles and San Diego. The Reds didn't fare any better against the Dodgers at home over the weekend, getting swept in three contests to fall into the division cellar and 7 1/2 games back of first-place Milwaukee. Tampa Bay belted five homers Sunday to back impressive rookie starter Jacob Faria in a 9-1 victory over Detroit and earn a split of its four-game road series with the Tigers. The Rays took three of four from Miami to begin May in their only other interleague series this season and have won seven of their last nine at home overall.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network, FSN Ohio (Cincinnati), FSN Sun (Tampa Bay)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Reds RH Scott Feldman (5-5, 4.29 ERA) vs. Rays RH Jake Odorizzi (4-3, 3.77)

Feldman's three-game winning streak came to an end Tuesday in San Diego, allowing four earned runs and failing to last more than five innings for the third time in four tries. The Hawaii native was coming off seven scoreless innings at home against St. Louis five days earlier and has been markedly worse on the road (2-3, 5.58 ERA) than in Cincinnati (3-2, 3.45). Evan Longoria (5-for-17) and Derek Norris (6-for-14) have each homered against Feldman, who is 4-3 with a 3.05 ERA in 17 games (seven starts) versus the Rays.

Odorizzi was fortunate to come away with a no-decision Wednesday at Toronto after giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks across only 4 1/3 innings. The 27-year-old has done some of his best work at Tropicana Field this year, however, posting a 3-2 record with a 3.11 ERA and 1.01 WHIP while allowing hitters to bat only .213 against him. Odorizzi carries a 6-3 record with a 3.12 ERA in 15 interleague starts as he squares off against Cincinnati for the first time.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Rays have the second-best record in the American League against right-handed starters (29-19) and the second-worst mark in the AL against southpaws (8-16).

2. Cincinnati starting pitchers are 0-6 with an 8.29 ERA during the Reds' nine-game losing streak.

3. Tampa Bay took two of three in Cincinnati when the teams last met in 2014, but the Reds hold a 9-3 advantage in the all-time series.

GAME: Washington Nationals (42-27) at Miami Marlins (30-37)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 19 - 7:10 PM EST
WHERE: Marlins Park, Miami, Florida
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Washington Nationals' lineup will try to rebound from a rare low-scoring effort when the club continues its seven-game road trip with the first of three games at the Miami Marlins on Monday. The Nationals averaged 7.3 runs during a three-game winning streak and over a six-game stretch before running into Jacob deGrom and the New York Mets on Sunday.

Bryce Harper had one of Washington's four hits against deGrom and one reliever in the 5-1 loss, spoiling Trea Turner's team-record four stolen bases. Despite the setback, the Nationals are 12-3 in their last 15 road games and right-hander Tanner Roark, who starts the series opener, is 3-1 with a 3.86 ERA in six outings away from home. The Marlins had won 13 of 18 before dropping the final two games of a weekend series in Atlanta, both of them coming on walk-off hits by the Braves. Left-hander Justin Nicolino is expected to come off the disabled list (finger) to make his fourth start of the year for Miami.

TV: 7:10 p.m. ET, MASN2 (Washington), FSN Florida (Miami)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals RH Tanner Roark (6-4, 4.39 ERA) vs. Marlins LH Justin Nicolino (0-1, 4.15)

Roark spun seven scoreless innings in his final start in May but has been rocked for 13 earned runs in 18 2/3 innings over three outings this month. He allowed two runs and three hits in six innings in his season debut to defeat Miami at home April 5 and is 5-8 with a 3.76 ERA in 19 career games (13 starts) against the Marlins. Sluggers Giancarlo Stanton and Justin Bour are a combined 10-for-52 against Roark but half of those 10 hits have left the yard.

Nicolino left his last start May 30 against Philadelphia after bruising the tip of his left index finger on a bunt attempt, interrupting a solid start in which he had thrown three scoreless no-hit innings. He yielded one run in six frames in his one other home start this year but is just 2-6 lifetime at Marlins Park. The 25-year-old is 0-3 with an 8.10 ERA in four games (three starts) versus Washington.

WALK-OFFS

1. Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman remains tied with Vladimir Guerrero (234) for the most home runs in franchise history.

2. Marlins 1B Tyler Moore has five homers in his last 12 contests.

3. Harper has hit safely in 11 straight games but only two have been multi-hit efforts.

GAME: San Francisco Giants (26-45) at Atlanta Braves (31-37)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 19 - 7:35 PM EST
WHERE: SunTrust Park, Cumberland, Georgia
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

Brandon Phillips is enjoying his first season playing in his hometown, and the Atlanta Braves second baseman comes into Monday’s opener of a four-game home series with the San Francisco Giants after a great weekend. Phillips recorded walk-off game-winning hits on Saturday and Sunday, as Atlanta won a three-game series with Miami and begins the week leading the majors with 11 victories in its final at-bat.

Phillips, an Atlanta native who was traded to the Braves from Cincinnati in the offseason, is hitting .306 on the season and .339 since May 16. San Francisco was two outs away from ending a five-game losing streak, but closer Mark Melancon allowed four runs in the ninth inning Sunday as the Giants fell to Colorado 7-5. Shortstop Brandon Crawford snapped a 6-for-36 skid with three hits, including a two-run homer, and catcher Buster Posey enters this series hitting a major-league leading .354 on the season. The Giants beat Atlanta twice during a three-game series May 26-28 in San Francisco.

TV: 7:35 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Bay Area (San Francisco), FSN Southeast (Atlanta)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Giants RH Johnny Cueto (5-6, 4.57 ERA) vs. Braves RH R.A. Dickey (4-5, 5.35)

Cueto looks to rebound from a rough outing Wednesday against Kansas City, allowing five runs on a season-high 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings. Homers have stung the 31-year-old hurler throughout the season, as he has given up 16 in 86 2/3 innings after surrendering only 15 in 219 2/3 innings a season ago. Cueto beat the Braves on May 28, holding Atlanta to one run on six hits in six innings.

Dickey also had a difficult time in his last start, a five-inning stint Tuesday against the Nationals in which he allowed eight runs on eight hits. The 42-year-old knuckleballer has posted a 6.23 ERA across his past eight starts, going 1-3 with a .293 batting average against. Dickey faced Cueto in the matchup last month, giving up seven runs (six earned) on six hits with five walks over six innings.

WALK-OFFS

1. Giants INF Eduardo Nunez, who has reached base in 29 consecutive games (longest active streak in the majors), has missed the last three contests due to left hamstring tightness.

2. Atlanta OF Nick Markakis begins the series just 35 hits shy of reaching 2,000 for his career.

3. San Francisco has been outscored 47-26 during its current six-game skid and is just 4-15 in its past 19 games.

GAME: Pittsburgh Pirates (31-38) at Milwaukee Brewers (38-33)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 19 - 7:40 PM EST
WHERE: Miller Park, Milwaukee, Wisconsin
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

It's past the middle of June and the Milwaukee Brewers still are in first place in the National League Central, thanks to a powerful offense and a surprising pitching staff. The Brewers will try to break out the power bats against another division rival when they host the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday for the opener of their four-game series.

Milwaukee had a streak of five straight games with at least five runs scored come to an end on Sunday but still managed a 2-1 win as Jimmy Nelson tossed a complete game while Hernan Perez and Manny Pina bashed solo home runs. The Brewers have not lost a series to a division foe since dropping two of three at Pittsburgh from May 5-7 and enter the week hot with wins in five of the last six. The Pirates (31-38) have not been as sharp of late, as they come in having dropped three of their last four to close out a 5-5 homestand. Pittsburgh will try to turn the tide behind ace Gerrit Cole, who goes up against Milwaukee veteran Matt Garza.

TV: 7:40 p.m. ET, ROOT Pittsburgh, FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Pirates RH Gerrit Cole (4-6, 4.54 ERA) vs. Brewers RH Matt Garza (3-2, 4.17)

Cole struggled through a terrible stretch of four starts in which he allowed a total of 23 runs over 19 1/3 innings but pulled out of it against Colorado on Tuesday. The former No. 1 overall pick held the NL West-leading Rockies to one run on three hits and three walks in seven innings. Cole enjoyed similar success against Milwaukee on May 6, when he yielded one run and two hits in seven frames but did not factor in the decision.

Garza has failed to complete six innings in any of his last four starts but recorded a win last time out at St. Louis. The Californian allowed four runs and five hits in five frames but received enough support from his offense to end a four-start winless streak. Garza's best effort may have come against Cole and the Pirates on May 6, when he surrendered one run and eight hits in seven innings without figuring in the decision.

WALK-OFFS

1. Pirates 2B Josh Harrison is 2-for-17 with six strikeouts over his last four games.

2. Pina homered in each of his last two starts and is 7-for-16 in his last five contests.

3. Milwaukee LF Ryan Braun (calf) is cleared to play and expects to begin a rehab assignment soon.

GAME: San Diego Padres (28-42) at Chicago Cubs (34-34)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 19 - 8:05 PM EST
WHERE: Wrigley Field, Chicago, Illinois
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

With a grueling road trip looming, the Chicago Cubs hope to take advantage of a three-game home series against the San Diego Padres starting Monday. The Padres have lost seven of their last nine road games and are 11-24 away from home.

The Padres swept the Cubs in a three-game set May 29-31 in San Diego, capping an 0-6 road trip for Chicago. The Cubs totaled only five runs in that series, but they’ve swung the bats much better since and are averaging 7.4 runs over their past five games. Chicago claimed its first road series in more than a month with a 7-1 win at Pittsburgh on Sunday, getting back to .500 and staying within 2 1/2 games of first-place Milwaukee in the National League Central. The Padres have gone 6-9 since sweeping the Cubs and dropped a 2-1 decision in the rubber match of a three-game series at Milwaukee on Sunday.

TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, FSN San Diego, CSN Chicago

PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres LH Clayton Richard (5-7, 4.30 ERA) vs. Cubs LH Jon Lester (4-4, 3.89)

Richard has been inconsistent, but he has turned in a pair of gems over the past month. The 33-year-old allowed one run in a five-hitter May 21 against Arizona and took a shutout into the ninth before leaving after a two-out, two-run double in a 6-2 win over Cincinnati on Tuesday. Richard pitched for the Cubs in 2015 and 2016 and is 2-1 with a 2.53 ERA in three starts against his former team, most recently facing them in 2013.

Lester picked up his 150th career win Tuesday against the New York Mets, striking out 10 and allowing one run and five hits over seven innings. The 33-year-old had posted an 8.16 ERA over his previous three starts. Lester is 2-1 with a 2.96 ERA in four starts against the Padres, including a pair of wins last season in which he allowed four runs over 12 innings with 12 strikeouts.

WALK-OFFS

1. Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo is 18-for-44 with four home runs during a 12-game hitting streak and is 9-for-22 since moving into the leadoff spot.

2. Padres 1B Wil Myers is 8-for-22 with two homers during a six-game hitting streak.

3. Chicago RF Jason Heyward left Sunday’s game with an abrasion on his left hand and is day-to-day.

The Texas Rangers worked their way back over .500 during the weekend before a disappointing loss brought them back to the even mark. The Rangers will try to get back over the hump at the expense of another team attempting to work its way up the standings when they host the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday for the opener of their four-game series.

Texas has received strong starting pitching during its recent run of seven wins in nine games, with an average of 2.4 runs allowed in the victories. The Rangers pounded their way to 10-4 triumphs in each of the first two games of their weekend set against Seattle to improve to 34-33 but fell off on Sunday, dropping a 7-3 decision. The Blue Jays were one game under .500 at 32-33 after a win over Tampa Bay on Wednesday but can't seem to get over the hump as they lost two of three to the Chicago White Sox over the weekend to fall to 33-35. Toronto will try to start its seven-game road trip strong when Marco Estrada heads to the mound on Monday against Rangers rookie Austin Bibens-Dirkx.

TV: 8:05 p.m. ET, Sportsnet, TVA (Toronto), FSN Southwest (Texas)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays RH Marco Estrada (4-5, 4.54 ERA) vs. Rangers RH Austin Bibens-Dirkx (2-0, 3.28)

Estrada is trying to snap a string of three straight losses, including a setback against Tampa Bay on Tuesday in which he was knocked around for six runs and 12 hits in 3 1/3 innings. The Californian has surrendered a total of 17 runs and 28 hits - four homers - in 12 2/3 frames over his last three turns. Estrada's last win came against Texas on May 27, when he allowed one run and struck out eight over six innings.

Bibens-Dirkx recorded his first win as a starter at Washington on June 11, when he held the Nationals to one run and three hits in seven frames. The 32-year-old has yet to allow more than three runs in any of his seven appearances. Bibens-Dirkx struck out a season-high five in four innings of relief but allowed three runs and four hits at Toronto on May 26.

WALK-OFFS

1. Rangers LHP Cole Hamels (oblique) threw in the bullpen on Sunday and is expected to make a rehab start at Double-A Frisco on Wednesday.

2. Toronto DH Kendrys Morales has homered in three of his last four games.

3.Texas CF Carlos Gomez is 4-for-12 with two homers, eight RBIs and four runs scored in his last three contests.

GAME: Boston Red Sox (39-30) at Kansas City Royals (33-35)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 19 - 8:15 PM EST
WHERE: Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Kansas City Royals steadily are climbing back into the race in the American League Central and look to continue their surge when they open a six-game homestand Monday against the Boston Red Sox. The Royals have won seven of their last eight contests, closing within 3 ½ games of first-place Cleveland, and belted 18 homers on their 7-2 road trip that ended with Sunday's 7-3 win at the Los Angeles Angels.

Salvador Perez belted a three-run homer Sunday to extend his hitting streak to 10 games (17-for-40) while Lorenzo Cain has hit safely in six straight (11-for-24) for Kansas City, which meets Boston for the first time this season after taking four of six in 2016. Jason Hammel tries to keep the Royals on the rise with a third straight win as he faces 28-year-old rookie Hector Velasquez of the Red Sox, who are 3-2 on their eight-game road trip. Boston took two of three at major league-best Houston over the weekend, including a 6-5 victory on Sunday in which Xander Bogaerts snapped out of a mini-slump by going 3-for-4 with four RBIs. The Red Sox, who have won seven of their last 10 games, moved into a virtual tie with the rival New York Yankees for first place in the AL East after Sunday’s victory.

TV: 8:15 p.m. ET, NESN (Boston), FSN Kansas City

PITCHING MATCHUP: Red Sox RH Hector Velazquez (1-1, 6.48 ERA) vs. Royals RH Jason Hammel (3-6, 5.05)

Velazquez makes his second major-league start after holding Philadelphia scoreless on one hit and one walk over 3 1/3 innings on Wednesday to record the victory in relief. The Mexican gave up six runs and nine hits - including three homers - over five frames against Oakland on May 18 in his first career start. Velazquez, who had his contract purchased from a Mexican League team in February, has gone 4-1 with a 1.29 ERA in nine turns with Triple-A Pawtucket this season.

Hammel is starting to put things together with three consecutive quality starts to open the month, recording a pair of wins and a 2.21 ERA in that stretch. The 34-year-old native of South Carolina has struck out 15 and walked just one in 20 1/3 innings during June after issuing a season high-tying four free passes in his last start of May against Detroit. Hanley Ramirez is 6-for-13 with a homer versus Hammel, who is 1-3 with a 4.61 ERA in 13 career appearances (six starts) versus the Red Sox.

WALK-OFFS

1. Boston 2B Dustin Pedroia is tied with Wade Boggs (687) for 17th on the franchise’s all-time RBI list and three behind Nomar Garciaparra for 16th.

2. Kansas City 3B Mike Moustakas, who registered a three-run double on Sunday, is one shy of 100 homers for his career.

3. Red Sox RF Mookie Betts has gone 8-for-20 during his five-game hitting streak and CF Jackie Bradley Jr. has hit safely in nine of his last 10 (13-for-37).

GAME: Houston Astros (46-24) at Oakland Athletics (31-38)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 19 - 10:05 PM EST
WHERE: Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, California
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

With one four-game sweep of a home series under their belts, the Oakland Athletics look to get started on another when they host the Houston Astros for the opener on Monday. Oakland rebounded from a 1-6 slide in a big way, kicking off an eight-game homestand with four straight wins against the New York Yankees - including three one-run decisions.

Khris Davis had his nine-game hitting streak halted during the series but ended a 12-game power drought with a two-run homer during a four-run third inning in Sunday's 4-3 victory. Houston takes to the road for seven contests after a disappointing homestand during which it lost two of three to the Los Angeles Angels, Texas and Boston. The Astros dropped a 6-5 decision to the Red Sox on Sunday despite a 14-hit attack that saw five of the first six hitters in the lineup register two apiece. One of those hitters was Jose Altuve, who has gone 9-for-13 during his four-game hitting streak.

TV: 10:05 p.m. ET, ROOT Southwest (Houston), NBCSN California (Oakland)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Astros RH Brad Peacock (3-1, 3.00 ERA) vs. Athletics RH Daniel Gossett (0-1, 16.20)

Peacock will be making his sixth start after beginning the season with 12 relief appearances but has made it past the fifth inning just once. The 29-year-old Floridian did not factor in the decision against Texas on Tuesday, lasting only 4 2/3 frames despite allowing just one run and two hits while registering a season-high 10 strikeouts. Peacock, who has issued four walks in each of his last two turns, is 1-4 with a 4.81 ERA in 12 career appearances (nine starts) against Oakland - including a pair of relief outings in April.

Gossett receives another chance after getting pounded by the Miami Marlins in his major-league debut. The 24-year-old native of South Carolina was tagged for seven runs - six earned - and six hits (two homers) in 3 1/3 innings of a loss at Miami on Wednesday. Gossett has made 11 starts for Triple-A Nashville this season, going 3-3 with a 3.41 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 60 2/3 frames.

WALK-OFFS

1. Athletics RHP Santiago Casilla was not available on Sunday, a day after being hit in the left shoulder by a foul ball.

2. Altuve is six hits behind Bill Doran (1,139) for ninth place on the Astros' all-time list.

3. Oakland 1B/DH Ryon Healy has belted eight homers in his last 15 games, a stretch during which he has recorded three two-homer performances.

GAME: New York Mets (31-37) at Los Angeles Dodgers (44-26)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 19 - 10:10 PM EST
WHERE: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

The Los Angeles Dodgers need every win they can get to keep pace in the National League West, and they've been winning plenty of late. The Dodgers go for their fourth straight victory and 10th in 11 contests when they begin a nine-game homestand with the opener of a four-game series against the New York Mets on Monday.

Los Angeles went 5-1 on a road trip through Ohio, which was capped by a three-game sweep of Cincinnati, and sits tied with Arizona (44-26), one game behind Colorado (46-26) for first in the division. The Mets dropped three of four over the weekend to Washington but take to the road with some momentum after capturing the series finale 5-1 on Sunday behind a strong start from Jacob deGrom. "Don't pick up the newspapers. Just go win baseball games," New York manager Terry Collins told reporters of his message to his team on the eve of a 10-game road trip. "The only thing you can control is how you play. If you go win games, you'll get back in the race." The Mets will try to win Monday's game behind Zack Wheeler, while the Dodgers counter with ace Clayton Kershaw.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, SNY (New York), SportsNet LA (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Mets RH Zack Wheeler (3-4, 4.48 ERA) vs. Dodgers LH Clayton Kershaw (9-2, 2.23)

Wheeler had a string of seven straight starts with fewer than four earned runs allowed come to an end Tuesday, when he was lit up by the Chicago Cubs. The 27-year-old yielded eight runs on six hits - two homers - and three walks in 1 2/3 innings before being pulled and taking the loss. Wheeler, who sat out 2015 and 2016 while recovering from elbow surgery, is making his first career start against Los Angeles.

Kershaw hit a snag with a start against Chicago on May 28 that lasted just 4 1/3 innings but has been back to his Cy Young Award-winning form over the last three outings. The veteran Texan allowed a total of four runs over 21 frames in those three turns, including a win at Cleveland on Tuesday. Kershaw never has lost to the Mets, as he owns a career record of 7-0 with a 1.29 ERA in 11 starts.

WALK-OFFS

1. Dodgers 3B Justin Turner has hit safely in each of his last 13 games and is batting .385 on the season.

2. New York 3B Wilmer Flores is 3-for-27 over his last seven games.

3. Los Angeles RHP Kenley Jansen fanned a pair in a perfect ninth inning on Sunday and has recorded 50 strikeouts without a walk this year.

GAME: Detroit Tigers (32-36) at Seattle Mariners (34-37)
DATE/TIME: Monday, June 19 - 10:10 PM EST
WHERE: Safeco Field, Seattle, Washington
LINE: N/A TOTAL: N/A

After ending a road trip during which they were quite generous to the opposition's offense, the Seattle Mariners kick off a nine-game homestand Monday with the opener of a four-game series against the Detroit Tigers. Seattle halted a three-game slide Sunday to finish with a 3-4 record on a trek on which it surrendered a total of 46 runs in its losses.

Kyle Seager recorded a trio of RBI doubles in the Mariners' 7-3 win at Texas while Ben Gamel went 2-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 10 games - a run during which he has registered seven multi-hit performances. Detroit is beginning a seven-game road trip after concluding a 2-4 homestand with a pair of setbacks against Tampa Bay. The Tigers managed only six hits in the 9-1 defeat Sunday, with Alex Avila and Dixon Machado notching two apiece. The two-hit effort by Avila, which stretched his hitting streak to five games, was his third in a row and fifth in 10 contests.

TV: 10:10 p.m. ET, ESPN, FSN Detroit, ROOT Northwest (Seattle)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Tigers RH Anibal Sanchez (0-0, 9.00 ERA) vs. Mariners RH Sam Gaviglio (3-1, 3.41)

Sanchez will be summoned from Triple-A Toledo to make his first start of the season. The 33-year-old Venezuelan began the season in Detroit's bullpen and did not fare very well, surrendering 26 runs and 34 hits - nine homers - in 21 frames over 11 appearances. Sanchez, who was tagged by Seattle for four runs and six hits in four innings of relief on April 26, is 3-0 with a 3.86 ERA in six career games (four starts) against the Mariners.

Gaviglio has won three straight decisions despite yielding four or more runs in two of the outings, including a triumph at Minnesota on Wednesday in which he gave up four runs and five hits - three homers - over 5 1/3 innings. The 27-year-old native of Oregon has been superb at home, allowing a total of two earned runs over 16 frames in three turns. Gaviglio, who will be facing Detroit for the first time, has served up nine home runs over 34 1/3 innings in his first major-league season.

WALK-OFFS

1. Mariners RHP Felix Hernandez (shoulder) is expected to rejoin the rotation Friday against Houston after being sidelined for nearly two months.

2. Detroit OF J.D. Martinez (28) and 1B Miguel Cabrera (26) are second and third, respectively, in most opposite-field home runs by right-handed hitters since 2015, with Oakland's Khris Davis (33) leading the league.

3. Seattle purchased the contract of RHP Max Povse from Double-A Arkansas, optioned fellow RHP Rob Whalen to the Travelers and designated LHP Dillon Overton for assignment.
