Interesting because Miami’s signature is defense, but they allowed an average Pelicans team 105 points and took a 10 point beat down loss to them their last game. "Yes, our locker room is angry. Yes, our locker room is frustrated, as rightly we should be," Miami coach Erik Spoelstra told reporters. "We're not accustomed to this type of play, these type of standards, particularly on the defensive end." Take note of this comment. Portland is still without Aldridge and Portland has slid to 5th place in the West in the playoff race while the Heat are 3 games behind the Pacers in the East, but both teams off bad losses, and I think if Miami is focused on playing defense, and their locker room is angry, and they are at home against a good team, I see Miami winning this by 10 points tonight. Miami does seem to play to the level of their opponent. Portland in their last 5 games have allowed 11 ppg on defense while scoring 110. That is not going to get it done on the road at a ticked off Miami team. The line is at -7 for Miami and oddsmakers are expecting a high scoring game with the total at 210. With the way Portland is playing defense I agree with Miami getting points on the scoreboard at home, but also see the Heat playing some defense. That's not typical for them though and I expect things to return to "normal" against the stingy Sharks. San Jose has seen its last four games all stay below the total, each producing five or fewer combined goals. The "under" is now 20-11-1 the Sharks' last 32 games. The Sharks have allowed three or fewer goals in 11 straight games. Meanwhile, the Flames have quietly allowed three or fewer goals in 17 of their last 18. Note that the "under" is a profitable 24-14-3 the past couple of seasons, after Calgary scored four or more goals in its previous game. Both teams have shown a tendency to play low-scoring games when matched up against divisional opponents. The Sharks have seen the "under" go 12-7-3 against division rivals; the Flames have seen the "under" go 15-7-3 against divisional foes. Given those stats, its not surprising to learn that each of the last three meetings between these teams has dipped below the total. With the "under" at 18-10 when the Flames play a home game with a total of 5.5, I believe the extra juice that comes along with this total is justified. Consider the Under.
