Monday comp play on the Cardinals-Braves to stay UNDER the total.
The Redbirds enter Monday play with 3 of their last 5 games having held Under the total, while the Bravos enter tonight's action with 4 of their last 6 games having played Under the posted price.
It will be Miles Mikolas and Mike Foltyniewicz in charge of the mound-work at Sun Trust Park tonight, and both should see to it that there is not a lot of traffic on the base paths.
Mikolas has allowed 2 runs or less in 11 of his last 15 starts this season, including allowing the Braves just one run in his 6-plus innings worked against them in that stretch.
As for Foltyniewicz, he has allowed 2 runs or less in 6 of his last 7 starts.
I get the feeling that with these pitchers dealing, runs will be at a premium on Monday night.

Let's play the Rockies and Dodgers to open their big 3 game set with an Under at Chavez Ravine this Monday night.
Colorado has played 3 straight, and 5 of their last 6 games Under the total, while Los Angeles is on a modest 3-2-1 Under clip their last 6 games contested.
As for the series, 5 of the last 6 showdowns between the division-rivals, and 7 of the last 10 this season have also landed Under the posted price.
It will be Jon Gray for the visiting Rockies, and Hyun-Jin Ryu for the host Dodgers. Gray may sport an over 5 ERA for his last 3 starts. but all 3 of them have ended up holding Under the total. Not only that, but the Under is 7-1 when he starts against Los Angeles.
As for Ryu, his ERA over his last 3 starts stands at an even 3.00, with 2 of those 3 landing Under the total. The Under is 5-1-2 over his last 8 starts versus Colorado.
The Rockies are on a 7-1 Under run their last 8 away from Coors Field.
Take Colorado and Los Angeles to play this series opener Under the total.
3* COLORADO-L.A. DODGERS UNDER

Monday's Bonus Play will be to look for this football game between the Seahawks and the Bears to hold Under the total.
Chicago's defense is looking for some redemption after allowing Aaron Rodgers to bring the Packers back from a 20-0 deficit, and while Russel Wilson is a supreme talent, the Seahawks are not exactly brimming with the weapons needed to turn this game into a shootout.
That game at Lambeau Field did sneak Over the total, but do keep in mind that Chicago had played 6 straight to close last season Under the total.
As for Seattle, they also landed Over the total in their game at Denver, but the Under is still 6-3 Under in their last 9 on the road.
It will be close to the total, but in the end I see this game falling just shy.
2* SEATTLE-CHICAGO UNDER

Play on: Phillies -120 at BMaker

Scott "The Bulldog" Rickenbach MLB Game #952 Monday Free Pick Philadelphia Phillies Money Line (-) vs New York Mets @ 7:05 ET - The Phillies failed to complete the 3-game sweep of the Marlins yesterday but should bounce right back here. Philadelphia sends Jake Arrieta to the mound and he has piled up 18 strikeouts in 12 and 1/3 innings spanning his last two starts. He also has a sparkling 0.89 ERA in his last 3 starts versus the Mets. As for New York's Zach Wheeler, he gave up 3 earned runs on 7 hits in just 4 and 2/3 innings in his lone start versus the Phils this season. The Phillies are 45-30 in home games this season and offer good value at the low money line price in this one. The Mets are 12-23 in road games with a money line range of +125 to -125 this season. Free Pick PHILADELPHIA

10* FREE MLB PICK (Phillies -113)

I'll take my chances here with the Phillies as a short home favorite against the Mets. Philadelphia got back on track this weekend by taking 2 of 3 against the Marlins at home and I look for them to carry over that momentum against a Mets team that is primed for a letdown after their big series at Boston. It certainly helps the Phillies will have one of their best starters on the mound in Jake Arrieta, who has a solid 3.40 ERA and 1.174 WHIP in 14 home starts. Arrieta has also owned the Mets with a 2.34 ERA and 0.980 WHIP in 10 career starts against them. He's faced them twice in 2018 and allowed just 1 run on 9 hits with 11 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings of work. Give me the Phillies -113!

MLB | Twins vs Tigers
Play on: Tigers -110 at sportsbook

1* Free Sharp Play on Tigers -110
My money is on the Tigers at basically a pick'em at home against the Twins on Monday. Detroit just took 2 of 3 at Cleveland over the weekend and will have the edge on the mound in this one. The Tigers will send out veteran Jordan Zimmermann, who has a strong 2.81 ERA and 0.875 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Zimmermann was also sharp in his lone start against Minnesota this season, allowing just 2 runs (0 earned runs) in 6 1/3 innings of a 5-3 win back on Aug. 10th. Tigers will counter with Gabriel Moya, who is making just his 3 big league start, as Minnesota is basically going with all receivers in this game. Look for Detroit to score early and often against a Twins bullpen that owns an ugly 5.11 ERA and 1.456 WHIP on the road this season. Bet the Tigers -110!

MLB | Cubs vs Diamondbacks
Play on: Diamondbacks -125 at 5Dimes

My Bonus Play is on the Arz Diamondbacks at 9:40 ET. The Chicago Cubs had their three-game winning streak snapped with a 2-1 loss to Cincinnati on Sunday but maintained their 2 1/2-game lead over the Brewers in the NL Central, as Milwaukee lost 3-2 at home to the Pirates. As for Arizona, the team's September swoon continued with a 5-4 loss at Houston on Sunday, dropping them to 4-11 this month. The D'backs fell 4 1/2 games behind first-place Colorado in the NL West with the loss and they are also four back in the race for the second wild-card spot. The Cubs have been steady, as they open this three-game set in Arizona having won 14 of their last 18 series. In contrast, this Arizona team which led or was tied for the NL West lead for 125 days this season (note: D'backs were still in first place on Sep 1), is just 4-11 in September.

Kyle Hendricks (11-11, 3.71 ERA) takes the mound, having allowed fewer than three ERs in five consecutive outings (1.80 ERA) but is a modest 2-2 (team 3-2 is in that span). That's been his 'story' in 2018, as the Cubs are 15-15 in his 30 starts, going minus-$965 vs the moneyline. Hendricks is 1-1 with a 3.24 ERA in three career starts against the Diamondbacks.

Patrick Corbin (11-5, 3.05 ERA) will get the ball for Arizona. Corbin enters on a nice roll, as he has posted quality starts in seven of his eight outings since the beginning of August, posting a 2.49 ERA during that stretch with a KW ratio of 64-5 (he's 4-1 but Arizona is a more modest 5-3). However, Corbin is 5-1 with a 3.68 ERA in seven career games (six starts) against the Cubs.

The Cubs are playing better baseball but will enter Day 28 of a string of 30 straight days in which games were scheduled (if not necessarily played) with the first of this three-game series at Arizona on Monday. The Cubs have manged to go 4-3 over their last seven games, despite totaling only 15 runs during that stretch. The key has been strong pitching but Hendricks hasn't had much luck here in 2018. As for Corbin, he may have a modest 11 wins, but he is third in the league in strikeouts (230), fourth in WHIP (1.03) and tied for sixth in the league in quality starts (18). His ratio of strikeouts to walks is 5.48:1, is third in the league. Also note that Corbin 7-3 with a 3.14 ERA in 15 home starts this season. Play the home team.

MLB | Cardinals vs Braves
Play on: Cardinals +123

Jack’s Free Pick Monday: St. Louis Cardinals +123

The Cardinals are tied with the Dodgers for the second wild card spot right now. They need wins and badly, and they got a big one last night against the Dodgers that will give them some momentum heading into this series with Atlanta. The Braves all but have the NL East locked up as they are 6.5 games ahead of the second-place Phillies. I question their motivation moving forward these last few weeks of the regular season.
Getting Miles Mikolas as an underdog today is a gift from oddsmakers. Mikolas is 15-4 with a 2.99 ERA and 1.124 WHIP in 29 starts this season, including 8-0 with a 3.86 ERA in 14 road starts. Mikolas faced the Braves on June 29th in his lone career start against them and gave up just one earned run in 6 1/3 innings.
No question Mike Foltynewicz has been one of the better starters in the National League this season. But Folty hasn’t been able to figure out the Cardinals. He is 2-2 with a 7.13 ERA and 1.924 WHIP in four career starts against them.
St. Louis is 15-3 after batting .200 or worse over a 3-game span this season. Folty is 2-10 (-9.7 units) at home when working on 5 or 6 days’ rest over the last three seasons. The Cardinals are 20-7 in Mikolas’ last 27 starts, including 6-1 in his last seven road starts. St. Louis is 13-4 in its last 17 road games. The Braves are 1-9 in their last 10 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. St. Louis is 6-0 in its last six meetings in Atlanta. Bet the Cardinals Monday.

MLB | Reds vs Brewers
Play on: Brewers -169

The Reds salvaged a game in Chicago on Sunday to avoid the sweep and snap a three-game losing streak. The offense has been a mess as they scored five runs over those four games and now they head to Milwaukee whose pitching has been outstanding with a 2.53 ERA over its last 10 games. Cincinnati is just 28-46 on the road and more recent, they have lost 20 of its last 26 games. Milwaukee lost its final two games against Pittsburgh and now sits two and a half games behind the Cubs in the National League Central. The Brewers are still 46-29 at Miller Park which is the second best home record in the National League. The Brewers are 5-0 in their last five home games against teams with a road winning percentage of less than .400. Additionally, Milwaukee is 15-1 in its last 16 games coming off a loss to a division rival as a home favorite. The Brewers hand the ball to Wade Miley who has been outstanding in his 13 starts and a near two-month stint on the disabled list has only not hurt him but has and will help him down the stretch. He has allowed more than two earned runs only once and the lone instance he did not, he gave up only three earned runs. Overall, he has a 2.23 ERA and while he has been better on the road than at home, his home ERA of 2.42 is not too shabby. Anthony DeSclafani counters for the Reds and he has been a mess since a hot start to August. He has posted a 6.84 ERA over his last five starts and going back, the Reds are 1-6 in his last seven starts after allowing two runs or less in their previous game. Play (958) Milwaukee Brewers

MLB | Reds vs Brewers
Play on: Brewers -1½ +120

Dave’s Monday Bonus Play:
1* on Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 (+120)
The Key: Trailing the Cubs by 2.5 games in the NL Central and clinging on to a wild card spot, the Milwaukee Brewers can’t afford to be losing to teams like the Reds. Look for them to win by 2 runs or more today due to their edge on the mound. Wade Miley has been a blessing for the Brewers, going 4-2 with a 2.23 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 13 starts this season. Miley is 1-0 with a 1.27 ERA in his last 3 starts against the Reds while yielding just 3 earned runs in 21 1/3 innings. Anthony Desclafini is 2-2 with a 6.14 ERA in his last 5 starts against the Brewers, yielding 20 earned runs in 29 1/3 innings. Desclafini is 0-1 with an 8.02 ERA and 1.86 WHIP in his last 3 starts overall coming in as well. The Brewers are 15-1 off a loss to a division rival as a home favorite over the last 2 seasons. Take Milwaukee on the Run Line.

MLB | Cubs vs Diamondbacks
Play on: Diamondbacks -125

1 Unit Bonus Play on Arizona Diamondbacks -125
The Arizona Diamondbacks are 4.5 games back in the NL West and 4 games back in the wild card. They’re running out of time and need wins in bunches now. This is their chance to make a run with a 9-game home stand that starts Monday against the Cubs, Rockies and Dodgers. Pat Corbin has been Arizona’s most reliable starter and he gets the ball tonight. Corbin is 11-5 with a 3.00 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 30 starts this year, including 7-3 with a 3.04 ERA and 0.96 WHIP in 15 home starts. Kyle Hendricks is 5-4 with a 3.89 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 14 road starts for the Cubs this season. The Diamondbacks are 4-0 in Corbin’s last four home starts. Arizona is 5-1 in Corbin’s last six starts against the Cubs. Give me the Diamondbacks.

MLB | Rockies vs Dodgers
Play on: Rockies +156

1* Free Pick on Colorado Rockies +156
This is just too good a price to pass up on the Rockies, who I think have an excellent shot at opening up this massive series against the Dodgers with a win. Colorado will certainly do everything in their power to win the opener, knowing that LA has their two best starters, Kershaw and Buehler to close out the series.
Jon Gray will start Game 1 for the Rockies and since his demotion to Triple-A, Colorado has had a hard time losing with him on the mound. The Rockies are 9-2 in his 11 starts since his return from Triple-A. They have won 8 of his last 9 against a team with a winning record, including 4 straight on the road vs a team with a winning record. Colorado has also won 5 of his last 7 starts vs the Dodgers and the Rockies as a team are 7-3 in their last 10 games played at Dodgers stadium.
Hyun-Jin Ryu will get the call for LA and while he's pitched well since his return from the DL, the Dodgers are just 3-3 in those 6 starts. Ryu appears to be on a pretty strict pitch count, as he's not thrown more than 89 in any of those 6 starts since his return. Ryu is just 3-6 with a 5.77 ERA against Colorado and the Dodgers have lost each of his last 4 starts against the Rockies. Take Colorado!
