Red Sox vs. Braves
Braves+110

This play just missed out on our premium card. The Boston Red Sox and the Atlanta Braves face off and in this game the underdog has the value.

On the mound for the Braves is Touki Toussaint who looked good in his only major league start. He went six innings giving up only one hit and two runs.

As an underdog they have the value.

Back the Braves.

Royals (Junis) @ Indians (Plutko) 4:10 PM ET

Game# 971-972

Play On: Over 9.0

The Royals bats have been loud during their past 7 games. During that time frame, Kansas City has averaged a robust 6.6 runs scored per game, compiled a massive .969 OPS, and smashed 15 home runs. They’ll be facing Indians right-hander Adam Plutko today, and he’s surrendered an alarming 10 home runs thru just 51 1/3 innings pitched in 2018. The Royals Jake Junis has made 2 starts against Cleveland this season and had an enormous 9.82 ERA in those appearances. The Royals bullpen has struggled all season and that includes their relievers posting a collective 6.00 ERA throughout their last 7 games. Bet on this game to go over the total for my Monday 9/3 MLB free pick of the day.

Edmonton vs. Calgary
The CFL comp Play is on the Under at 3;00 eastern.

This game fits a powerful totals system that has gone under 72 of 110 times long term in the CFL and pertains to home teams with a total of 52 or more. Edmonton will have a tough time scoring here and Calgary is 5-0 under off a spread win, 4 of the last 5 at home, 5 of 7 in week 12 and 9 of 12 under in September vs winning teams. Look for this game to stay under today.

Red Sox vs. Braves
Red Sox-123

It's hard not to like the Red Sox at a short chalk price, moreso when they are facing a rookie pitcher. The Red Sox are 11-3 during interleague competition and draw Braves rookie righty Touki Toussaint. Atlanta has a losing record in interleague at 8-9. Toussaint does bring strong minor league credentials. He pitched well in his big league debut on Aug. 13 in his previous start giving up one run on two hits in six innings. That came against the Marlins, though. Boston is 50 games above .500 sitting on the best record in baseball. The Red Sox are a mind-blowing 76-30 versus righty starters. They also are 30-8 in day games. Toussaint ain't facing the Marlins this time. He really has to step up. Boston leads the majors in many offensive categories, including runs, batting average and OPS. Red Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi is streaky. I believe he'll be strong here having been limited to only two innings during his last start because of rain this past Friday. Eovaldi has a 2.82 lifetime ERA against the Braves in 13 starts and a 2.06 ERA in six interleague starts this season.

Giants vs. Rockies
Rockies-132

My Bonus Play is on the Col Rockies at 3:10 ET. The Rockies open a three-game series against the Giants in Coors Field on Labor Day. Colorado sits 74-62, just one-half game behind the division-leading LA Dodgers in the NL West (Arizona looms a half-game back of the Rockies). The 68-70 Giants are coming off a nine-game homestand in which they went a modest 5-4, after scoring three runs or less in six of their last seven contests.

San Francisco lefty Madison Bumgarner (5-5, 2.68 ERA) takes the mound in Monday's game. Bumgarner is coming off an excellent August in which he held opponents to one run or less in four of his six starts. He finished with just a 2-1 record (Giants were 4-2) but owns a 2.08 ERA in that span despite giving up six runs in a setback at Cincinnati on Aug. 18. Bumgarner is 12-8 with a 2.93 ERA in 28 career starts against the Rockies, including 0-1 with a 1.38 ERA in two starts this year (SF is 1-1).

Colorado lefty Tyler Anderson (6-7, 4.79) takes the mound on a nine-game winless drought (he's 0-4 and the Rockies are 1-8!). He has surrendered 19 runs on 24 hits over his last three starts spanning just 11 1/3 innings, giving him an ugly 15.09 ERA in that span. Anderson is 1-2 with a 4.11 ERA in five starts against the Giants in his career, including two this season in which he's 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA (Colorado is 1-1).

Bumgarner is clearly the better pitcher but the Rockies are 5-1 at Coors Field vs the Giants in 2018. The Giants come in a poor 29-40 on the road this season and San Francisco limps into the contest batting just .212 with runners in scoring position over its last 21 contests. The bet here is that Anderson ends his winless drought.

Good luck...Larry

JACK BRAYMAN

My Bonus Play for Monday is on the Pittsburgh Pirates over the Cincinnati Reds in National League Central action. And in this game I want you to list the scheduled starting pitchers: Matt Harvey and Trevor Williams.

Though we're dealing with the bottom two teams in the division, let's not forget the Pirates were near the top of the division during the first half, and have challenged the Chicago Cubs and Milwaukee Brewers throughout the season. Pitching eventually did them in. But now they're playing the worst team in the Central.

And I'll count on Williams to have a big game, as he enters his 27th start of 2018 having posted a 0.75 ERA over his last 48 innings that span eight outings. The right-hander has started eight shutouts this season. He hasn’t faced the Reds since April 6, when he gave up two runs on 10 hits in 5.1 innings, but that won't mean a thing against a team that just scored the eight-least number of runs in August, with 113.

On the other hand, I suspect the Bucs will jump all over Harvey, who has one of the highest opponent batting averages (.351) in the National League the third time through a lineup. His durability is crap. We just saw that last Wednesday, when all five Brewers he faced for the third time, during the 5th inning, stroked hits and led to three runs. The Pirates will be merciless.

Take Pittsburgh in this matinee.
