Monday's freebie is the Over in the Phillies-Diamondbacks game.

All 3 April meetings between the teams did land Over the total, and this one will as well.

Arizona is on an 8-2 Over run their last 10 games, and they will get to tee off on Jake Arrieta who has seen 2 of his last 3 starts land Over the posted price.

Zack Godley will counter, and he has also seen 2 of his last 3 starts end up playing Over the total.

It won't be a crazy number tonight, but a few runs here, a few runs there, and all of the sudden the Phils and D-Backs will be Over the total come the end of 9 innings.

Monday comp play will be Minnesota and Cleveland to land Under the total.

These teams just played a 3 game set to end July, and all 3 landed Under the total. Included was a 6-2 final in a game that was started by tonight's pitchers, Kyle Gibson and Trevor Bauer.

Gibson has seen his last pair of starts hold Under the total, and 3 of his last 4 overall have also landed Under the total. His road ERA for the year is 2.94 and 7 of his 11 road starts have ended up holding Under the total.

Trevor Bauer has also seen his last pair of starts, and 3 of his last 4 starts overall end up holding Under the total. His ERA at home this season is a scant 2.02.

I just don't think we are going to be seeing very many runs cross the dish this Monday night in Cleveland.

My Bonus Play is the Minnesota Twins in Cleveland, as I like the road dog to shock the frontrunning Indians. And in this one, be sure to list Kyle Gibson over Trevor Bauer.

Gibson will be facing the Indians for a second straight start and is coming into this one with revenge after taking a loss, despite a quality outing last Tuesday at home. Gibson gave up three runs over six innings with six strikeouts against the Tribe. He'll be at his best to avenge that start.

Bauer, meanwhile, allowed two runs on four hits over 6 1/3 innings last Tuesday in Minnesota, ending the appearance with three strikeouts. The Twins will remember that. That snapped a 12-start streak with at least seven strikeouts for Bauer, who has a 2.02 ERA in his past 15 turns.

Take a shot with the Twins here.

Sometimes you have to rely on trends. Sometimes they're relevant to a situation, and can solidify a pick. When I handicapped tonight's card, mid-day Sunday before the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees took the field, I had the Chicago White Sox penciled in.

After the Yankees took it on the chin for their fifth straight loss, I loved the South Siders even more.

Chicago has won four in a row and catches a tired - emotionally and physically - Yankees team that was just swept in Boston over the weekend. New York has lost six of 10, and in that span its pitching staff has a 5.65 ERA while the team is mired in a -10 run differential.

Now you add in a relevant losing trend, and it's a wrap for me.

Teams playing the Monday after playing the Sunday night game are a dismal 6-13 this season. Even worse, when you put that team on the road, it is 2-9.

The Yankees bring their slump to the South Side, where they'll try to tame an offense that is slugging .408 this season, and is led by Yolmer Sanchez's 100 hits and his .244 batting average ranks 58th in the American League. Avisail Garcia has been terror on the basepaths this season, leading the White Sox with six runs scored over the past 10 games.

Take Chicago here, as the day-after Sunday slump continues for teams having to travel and play the next day.

My free winner for tonight is in Anaheim, where the Angels host the once-again slumping Detroit Tigers and will win big.

I am not listing pitchers in this one, as it will not matter whatsoever.

I don't care who goes for the Angels because they've been more prolific with the long ball this season, hitting 151 home runs on the year. Of course, Mike Trout paces the lineup with 30 and there is nothing any Detroit pitcher can do. There is also Justin Upton, who is batting .256 with a .345 on-base percentage and .443 slugging percentage in 110 games this season, while Kole Calhoun leads the Angels with seven runs scored over the past 10 games.

The Tigers have dropped their last three games, and have lost six of 10. During that 10-game span, Detroit has a paltry .210 batting average and has been outscored by 12 runs.

Take the Halos tonight.

Jack’s Free Pick Monday: Detroit Tigers +135

The Detroit Tigers are showing great value as road underdogs to the Los Angeles Angels tonight. The Angels have reached the point at 55-58 on the season where they are starting to realize they won’t be making the playoffs.

I like getting the Tigers as dogs today because of their advantage on the mound. Matt Boyd is 6-9 with a 4.22 ERA and 1.150 WHIP in 21 starts this season, including 2-1 with a 1.42 ERA and 0.895 WHIP in his last three. He is also 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in one career start against the Angels, which came in a 9-3 Detroit victory on May 28 this year.

Nick Tropeano is 4-6 with a 4.94 ERA and 1.366 WHIP in 13 starts for the Angels this season. He has been at his worst at home, going 1-3 with a 5.70 ERA and 1.431 WHIP in seven starts. He is also 1-2 with a 5.29 ERA and 1.412 WHIP in his lsat three starts.

The Angels are 13-31 (-19.3 units) vs. a starting pitcher who strikes out 5 or more batters per start this season. Los Angeles is 7-22 (-16.6 units) vs. an AL starting pitcher whose WHIP is 1.200 or better this season. Detroit is 6-2 in its last eight games following a loss. Bet the Tigers Monday.

1 Unit Bonus Play on Pirates/Rockies UNDER 10.5

The Pittsburgh Pirates and Colorado Rockies should play in a low-scoring affair tonight at Coors Field. Joe Musgrove has a 1.80 ERA on the road this season and a 3.32 ERA in his last three starts. Kyle Freeland has an impressive 2.45 ERA in nine home starts this season. He has a 3.20 ERA in 22 starts overall this season and has clearly been the Rockies’ best starter. The UNDER is 12-3-1 in Rockies’ last 16 home games. The UNDER is 21-4 in Freeland’s last 25 home starts. Give me the UNDER.
