I had the Colorado Rockies winning on Sunday for a 200 Dimer, and tonight they're my free pick as an underdog in St. Louis, where the Cardinals will be shocked to see how good this team is playing.
The Rockies, who have won 11 of 13, won 3-2 yesterday for their fourth straight victory, and tonight they're going to bank on Tyler Anderson to get it done over Carlos Martinez.
Anderson has dominated the month of July and steps to the mound at Busch Stadium after throwing 7 1/3 innings on Tuesday, when he allowed two runs on three hits to the Houston Astros, who won, 8-2, in extra innings. That was a crazy game that got out of hand in one inning. But Anderson is 4-0 (3.48 ERA) on the road this season, so he'll be in his comfort zone.
The Rockies, now 57-47 and one game back of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West, are 30-23 on the road this season. They've won seven of their last 10 on the highway.
The right-hander needs to end his second cold streak since returning from the disabled list. Martinez has given up nine runs (eight earned) on 13 hits his past couple starts, and it's evident the Cardinals need more than five innings out of their ace to avoid overtaxing the bullpen. I don't know if that happens against the hard-hitting Rox.
Take Colorado tonight, as they open this road trip with a dub.
