New York Minute
The New York Mets and New York Yankees completed their Subway Series with a 2-0 pitcher's duel on Sunday night, going in favor of Seth Lugo and the home team. The Mets managed a total of six runs in the three-game set, while the Yankees scratched out just eight runs. The biggest winners have been those taking New York 'under' bets at the window, as both the Mets and Yankees have hit the under in each of their past six heading into the new week. 'Over' plays might be the way to go as the Mets hit the road, as they start a series in Atlanta on Tuesday. The 'over' was 2-1 in a three-game set from May 28-30 in Atlanta, with the Mets outscoring the Braves 18-13 in the battle between divisional foes.
Carlito's Way?
The Cleveland Indians will kick off a series against the division rival Chicago White Sox on Monday night at Guaranteed Rate Field (yeah, I know - what a silly stadium name). Carlos Carrasco toes the slab, and has yet to face the White Sox this season. Since the start of the 2015 season, however, he is a dismal 4-5 with a 4.10 ERA and a .249 opponent batting average across 63 2/3 innings over 12 starts with one complete game. Of course, if you look at just his 2017 numbers against the Pale Hose, they're awfully impressive. He was 3-0 with a 1.23 ERA in four starts, with one complete game. In other words, he struggles against the ChiSox when they resembled a major league team in the past, but against the current version he has exceled.
Looking Ahead
Monday, June 11
The Blue Jays hit the road for St. Petersburg, looking to stay hot against the scuffling Rays. Toronto enters play with a 4-0 mark in their past four games inside the American League East, while going 5-0 in the past five against teams with a losing record. They're also 6-1 in the past seven games on Mondays, for whatever that's worth. However, the Blue Jays have been a different team on the road, posting a 1-5 mark in the past six contests away from home while going 0-6 in their past six tries on the road against a left-handed starter. Overall, Toronto is 5-16 in the past 21 vs. LHP. The Rays are 5-1 in their past six against losing teams, and 5-0 in their past five on Mondays. However, they are 1-6 in the past seven vs. RHP while going 4-9 in the past 13 at home. There hasn't been a lot of separation head-to-head, but total bettors will like the fact the 'under' is 2-0-2 in the past four meetings, and also 2-0-2 in the past four meetings at Tropicana Field.
The Cubs will head up Interstate 94 to Cream City to battle the Brewers. The Cubs have been successful away from the Friendly Confines, winning their past four on the road. They're also 8-2 in the past 10 overall while going 4-1 in the past five vs. RHP. Chicago is also 6-2 in their past eight inside the division. They have rallied behind Jose Quintana, too, going 4-1 in his past five road assignments while going 8-3 in his past 11 starts overall. The Brewers have been hot at Miller Park, winning 16 of the past 21 at home. They're 11-5 across the past 16 against a winning team, too, but just 2-8 in the past 10 home games against the Cubbies. Under bettors will like the fact the under is 4-0 in Q's past four starts against Milwaukee, and the under is 16-5 in the past 21 meetings overall in this series. The under is 10-2-2 in the past 14 for the Brewers at home vs. LHP, and 4-0 in Junior Guerra's past four starts. The under is also 5-1-1 in his past seven starts at home.
Weather Report
There are just eight games on tap for Monday, and there are no weather trouble spots or wind concerns in the three parks with outdoor stadiums. The other venues have four stadiums with retractable roofs and one fixed dome. Enjoy!
