How about if the Mods continued to let the stiffs post, but altered their signatures or Avatars, to identify them as stiffs.

I vote for a cartoon of an erect penis. (it's stiff and they are tring to f*ck you)<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

They allow stiffs here to drive traffic. Remember these scammers are good at what they do, so their posting style attract a lot of attention and traffic.

Unfortunately, this attracts people who are very gullible too.

IB,

can you kindly substantiate ? You've called me with several names. I repeatedly asked you to substantiate your slanderous accusations.

Please do it now or shut your mouth forever.

Thanx

Sorry IB, I am not compensated in any way by any forum\forum owner\book\or whoever else you appear to be referring to.

p.s. Sounds to me like you might be the one in jail before too long.

TT,

I don't get it? How do they recruit victims here? Are you talking about books or players? And doesn't the forum help the truth come out better than, say, a cheesy ad?

Darryl, I'm talking about the rare cases between posters. Yes, it's a bad idea-but a lot of people have a "nice guy' streak in them that gets exploited by scum.

It seems to be the guys with big hearts who get screwed, so I'd like to see the forums do something about it.

As far as recruiting, I use the term very loosely-it's more of a use the forums to get to know other people that they can suck into their plan.

TT-

Did this software work or was it untested (in development)? If completed, was any book using it (or about to)?

WTF does P being a stiff have to do with the Rx?
Let's say a man/woman meets their spouse through a friend, then separate. One has to pay the other. Should the friend be responsible? C'mon.

Java-at least a couple books were looking at the software, but never used it due to the issue over source code ownership & the fact that it required a lot of manual updating.

TT,

OK I see what you mean now, they make friends on the forums, then contact them by email, ask to borrow money etc...and when it's all said and done it was clear that the whole purpose of coming on the forum in the first place was to find such suckers. Is that the gist of it?

Philosophically I think it would be wrong for the mods to get involved here, unless of course the loan requests are made here and not by email or other means.

And I don't think it would work more than once or twice anyway for the scammer. If he were to try it again after getting caught, there would be people like you (and me) to warn any new people he's trying to befriend. And if the potential victim doesn't heed the warning, then I would say it's his responsibility after that.

Don't you agree?

Good post Rattler

Darryl Parsons,

In the case referanced, the posters met face to face in Vegas and then one poster booked for the other with the player not paying his debt. I am still trying to figure how the Rx is to blame on that one or should get involved in any way. Atleast it is a solid example of how The Rx.com gets caught up in matters that are 100% out of our hands.

Darryl, you have the jist of it. Just ask Krackman how many "trustworthy" posters he's been stiffed by-it's SICK.

I was thinking that it would be more a "public service" to do away with those that are here with the purpose of screwing others who may be kind hearted or gullible.

TT,

I think your intentions are good but you must realize that some people are just destined to get scammed throughout their entire lives and so there's not a whole lot that you, I, the Rx, or anyone else can do about it. Each of us who gets riled up by an incident like this can do our part by pointing out the scammer and rubbing his nose in it as much as possible, but to expect others to exercise force like the mods in this case, that's a bit much IMO.

Darryl, you are entirely to rational

Maybe the "IM A STIFF" avatar is the solution

General.....you have some good points, and I never meant to imply that the Rx is to blame for anything. As far as getting involved, I just figured that a lot of posters here want to know the truth & that getting it out would be in everyone's best interest.

No big deal-I've ended up involved in similar situations & was more or less wondering if the issue had ever been discussed in full over here.

No problem TTinCO. I was done the same way for $2790 a few years back. I have one person to blame & I see that person everyday when I look in the mirror.

I worded that poorly....I wasn't really involved, but pulled into it.

I've always been one to stick to the "I don't have any idea who in the fugg you are, and I'm sure as hell not going to loan your gambling ass any money".

It's obviously different after you've met someone and gotten to know them, but in the end-Darryl is right in that you can't protect people from themselves. Lotta crooks out there-use your heads.

Even if we could prove who was and who was not a stiff we would not ban them from posting. What someone does off the site is nothing we can control here. I would guess there are a helluva lot of people on a gambling site who have stiffed someone before. If you come to the site and respect others you are welcome to post here. If in your real life you are a stiff, write bad checks, and cheat on your wife that's your business. I know it sucks when a poster beats somebody out of some money but it happens all the time, we aren't getting in the middle of it regardless of who stiffed who.

What usually happens on these sites is when someone is a known stiff they are called out on it repeatedly by the others and eventually move along on their own. The shame and humiliation of it all gets to them. My advice to all of you is keep your wallet in your back pocket. Treat everyone you meet on-line as someone who potentially will scam you if given the opportunity. We do what we can protecting you from the books but we can not protect you from all the people whom post here as well. Sounds harsh but you have to do that on your own. Thanks.
