Affliction Day of Reckoning (1/24/09) picks:
3* Renato Sobral (-145) Sportsbook
I think Babalu can win the same way Machida did: stay cautious in the stand up game, find a way to get it to the ground, and quickly submit. Sokoudjou really has not been impressive since his two big knockouts in pride over little Nog and Arona.
3* Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (-125) Sportsbook
Little Nog has similar skills as his twin brother, except he has not taken nearly as much damage over his career and has not seemed to slow down at all. The first time he fought the janitor, he took the fight on short notice and lost a decision, but I think it will be different this time around. Nog will push the pace, wear out Matyushenko and either take a decision or a late stoppage.
3* Jason High (+275) Sportsbook
Admittedly I don't know a whole lot about Jason High, but he does have a win over UFC fighter Kevin Burns, and is undefeated at 6-0, with only one fight gong to decision. Hieron is a solid fighter, but he's shown a suspect chin in the past, and hopefully High can take advantage of this. Not really confident in this pick, but I'm going for it anyway.
More picks to come for Affliction possibly, especially if the Fedor line goes down at all.
