MLink -- you wanted my thoughts on the series. I do think the Tigers win the series. Not because I'm a fan, I just think they do. I'm not going to count Verlander as automatic "wins" like a lot of people will. He's lights out....love the guy. However, Fister is pitching better than Verlander right now, and has been for at least the last month. The bats are clicking for both teams - and it should be exciting.

I think the series may go 5 games, but would not be surprised if it doesn't. You have the Yanks in 4, and I'll take the Tigers in 4. Either team can win this series, that's obvious. I think it's that close......

sounds good. saying Fister and verlander and better in the same sentence makes me laugh. Fister went against teams w nothing to play for in Sept. Yanks have hit hhim hard his entire career. Nova has not lost since coming back up from his little minor league stint. soooo if fister hott lately. Nova has been hott since July.

goodluck should be fun

k thanks for that predictions i believe you are 0-1 on predictions with me.... goodluck here bud, if you think tigers in 5, grab that +160 line right now for tigers to win the series, enjoy
Well if i pull to 1-1 in my predictions with you this 1 is gonna hurt alot more than the first that for sure! Good luck its gonna be the best series in my opinion.

can you edit your post or is it too late?

come on man, you tell me you are a good capper.... division series are 5 games not 7 so when i say yanks in 4 i mean they win 3 of the first 4 games, and that is a prediction i am not playing that on the series price, i am simply giving my input, tigers can win in 5, yanks can win in 5, who knows..but its my prediction

fister looks good lately but he has never ever ever ever pitched well against the yankees so that right there is false... detroit is not hottest team in baseball, yanks had it all locked up the past week so they played backups if they didnt play their backups yanks were on a streak of winning i believe 18 of 21 before they locked up the AL east and home field....... you cant go by games where yanks were playing AAA players the past 5 games

detroit lineup top to bottom right there with yanks?

lets compare

a jackson- curtis granderson -----granderson and its not even remotely close
betemit- arod ..............arod and its not even close
d young- gardner- gardner because he is a better fielder and can do more with the bat and get on base but its close
miggy- tex --- miggy here but tex better power numbers, miggy overall the better hitter though!
santiago- cano ------- cano x10000 and its not close
vmart - chavez ---- vmart
kelly- swisher ----- swisher by a ton
avilia- martin- avilia
peralta- jeter ---- jeter, better regular season got hot lately and jeter is one of the best postseason hitters of all time, so jeter here

so tigers better in 3 positions over yanks, DH, 1B, C....... that is chavez/montero combo which is still very good, tex who hit 39 homers and 111 rbi, and martin who is a better catcher defensively than avilia but avilia better hitter

so yanks win 6 of the 9 hitting positions but you say tigers lineup is right up there?

Runs scored 867 for yanks, tigers 787 so about 100 run difference
runs against 657 for yanks and 711 for tigers so about 50 run difference in pitching

Verlander > CC but not by much
Fister = Nova in terms of stuff
Scherzer > garcia
Porcello <<<<<<<<<< CC
if it gets to game 5
Verlander >>>>> Nova

yanks lineup>> tigers lineup
yanks bullpen >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> tigers bullpen

as many baseball experts are predicting ill do the same

valverde blows at least 1 game in this series, yanks hit him very hard everytime they see him, i bet you he blows one game

And for the record i never said i was a good capper. But im am on a burner of a hot streak right now!

well see. it's gonna be a tight series but I have faith in CC game 1

Yanks take a ton of pitches and if they can wear out verlander early and get to the BP in the 6 th. yanks win

I don't care if verlander strikes out 12 in 5 innings. as long as his pitch count is over 120 at that point. bring on that bullpen. o have watched every tigers Yanks game this year and Yanks have hit their BP hard

I guess you like all the fav's. I saw a lot of homers hit of the Yankee ace in some of his later outings proving he is vulnerable. Just saying, it's not a shoo in by all means. That is one tough line up the Yanks will field. Just a kid here back in the Mantle, Maris, Ford, and all the rest of those Yankee greats. Dam Yankee's was the motto I grew up with. Anyway, always enjoy your write ups and thoughts.

Good luck Mink

thanks united, i am not playing series prices, so i am not on all favs, i just wanted to cap my writeups with my prediction, that doesnt mean i am placing a single penny on the series prices, just my feeling on the series

verlander got knocked around his last time out, sabathia 8+ IP last time out 2 runs... but yeah verlander has the edge here but is he going to go 9 innings against the yanks? doubt it....

thanks for the support, hope to be on some of the same plays with ya this playoff season!

well what I said wasnt true. nothing against fister

but everything I said I can back up by stats...I think its a great series coming up here

We "agree to disagree" on Fister, and that's fine by me. The most important things are that 1) we win money, and 2) we stick by our teams, no matter what....that's what it's all about.

I wish you nothing but the best with your playoff wagers, MLink. I check your threads everyday in the MLB forum, and always tail your plays. I've said it a million times, I'm not a capper.....I'm a gambler, and your plays have been fantastic this year! Thanks for posting them, they've been $$!

With that being said - I will be following your wagers during the playoffs....I just can't tail on the Yankees plays! :toast: Keep up the great work, and here's to a fantastic series. I plan to be at either game 3 or 4, just not sure which at this point.

Big yankee fan here...and i like what u said MLINK.....haha i have to much emotion invested. its so true. I hope they comeback this year and take it
the Batting order is nasty, but like every postseason it comes down to who makes the least amount of mistakes pitching wise. Im prolly gonna throw a buck or 2 on the yankees to win the series....why not +375. They have been hot and their bullpen has been superb. So lets have a great october and good luck man.
