What a travesty in the Reds/Marlins game. One of worst scenarios EVER in MLB.

Watch ESPN tonight. You'll see what I'm talking about.

Absolutely sickening.

How the HELL does that happen?!

For those that haven't seen it, let me give you the low down. A Reds player was in the process of hitting an infield solo HR, he was rounding 3rd when out of nowhere some nut dressed like Jason Voorhees with an operating chainsaw came running from the third base sideline stands and chainsaws the Reds player right at the knees in mid stride half way home! The Reds player, not to be denied, picks up one of sawed off legs and tosses it towards Home Plate! The ball is coming in to the catcher, the catcher is clearly stunned by the tragic event he is witnessing and he doesn't even notice the half leg landing on the plate and the umpire calls it SAFE! HR counts even though the player is halfway between third and Home but his partial leg touched the plate.

Is that the way you saw it Kev?

I thought out as called on field meaning he never set up camp in front of the plate as he was originally on the plate.

Clearly what's missing is this...... something needs to be in the rule stating....... does not matter where the catcher is when the runner is out by 15 feet or more and the catcher's location has NO bearing on the outcome of the play.

If that is the play it is complete horse shit. The new rules should just say that the catcher has to get out of the way and let the runner score.

If they want to call this runner safe.... they might as well rule out the defense EVEN MAKING A THROW to home.

This is truly big-time weapons grade BULLSHIT!

The fact that this play even required a review is a sad day for baseball. The catcher's positioning had no effect on the runner at all. He was out by so far.... didn't matter!
