I just got off the phone with a buddy that is at the Ballpark in Arlington the wind is gusting up to 30mph blowing out from center to left, and blowing in from Right Field which causes the ball to fly out because of jet stream. I agree with Hookem Harrison you dont know what you will get yet lean on Boston.

a play for today from me.
I haven't taken a side yet this year but the dodger/giant over jumped out at me.
Zito just got in a carwreck and kirodu didn't finish the spring on a high note. Both teams bullpens have been used a bit as well. The dodgers haven't been scoring a ton of runs without the giants having errors, but to me that means they're due. Matt kemp crushes zito so don't be surprised if he does some damage.
Over 7.5

great call.. Great

Thoughts on Mariners...

For the side: I like Oakland in this spot with Gio Gonzalez going on the mound. Gonzalez is 4-1 with a 3.40 ERA in nine appearances against Seattle. He currently has a four-game winning streak (2.78 ERA) and was 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA in four starts against Seattle last year. The Mariners were able to come back in the ninth on the A's yesterday with 3 runs in the frame, but I think the A's avoid the sweep and get a win this afternoon.

For the total: I like the under as Fister will aim to repeat his fast opening to 2010, when he had a 2.45 ERA through 10 starts before suffering arm fatigue and struggling down the stretch to finish 6-14 with a 4.11 ERA. The 6-foot-8 Fister is 4-2, 2.90 vs. the A's in seven starts. Whereas Gonzalez will look to carry his dominant spring form over to a 2011 season that follows a breakout 2010 campaign, when he went 15-9 with a 3.23 ERA. Pounding the strike zone is key for this lefty, who has walked 4.7 per nine innings in his career.

Good Stuff G. I went to the game, I was going to contribute to thread but saw you were for the A's. I totally agreed with both plays. Too bad A's had that big 4 run inning - totally shouldn't have had it, there were several errors in the game today.

Boy the Phillies pitching staff sure is living up to the hype already. Here's a piece of trivia; the last time the Phillies swept an opening game series was 1899! The biggest problem I see so far is the ML is wayyyyyyy too high to play. I'm starting to look into playing them in series wins if the number is lower. Another cool fact was that the Phillies starting pitching was exceptional, 1 walk, 23 strikeouts in 19 innings, and 2 wins.

We need a Baltimore Guy, this team is on the rise and I can see some good plays with these guys but I don't follow them quite that close.

Braves have owned the Brewers in Miller Park - I wouldn't touch this game even though Milwaukee is definitely due for their first W. If they drop it today, I can see Gallardo coming out blazing tomorrow vs. Lowe.

Pittsburgh at St Louis Take St Louis -1.5 +140.
Yes, the Buccos took 2 of 3 at Chicago. Big deal. That makes today even better. Charlie Morton ( 2-12, 7.57 ) against Kyle Lohse ( 4-8, 6.55 ). If not for the Pirates neither pitcher would have jobs. Lohse is actually 5-1, 3.41 career against the Pirates. Morton is 1-3, 7.77 against the Cards and Pujols is just killer at home against Pittsburgh.

STL OPINION

I am playing the UNDER 9 today. I had planned to back Lohse when given the chance but I simply don't trust this offense right now. They scored 3-3-2 against the Padres and I can't play the run line until they get the bats going and I can't pay the moneyline price right now either. Morton's numbers look awful against STL but his last 3 starts (2009/2010) his ERA is 3.70, it was the 21.60 ERA in 2008 that makes it look so bad. He has given up his share of hits to STL no doubt, but Holliday is the only player to get an extra base hit against him and he is on the shelf. Lohse had a great spring and is healthy (I think) for the first time in a while. He is keeping the ball down and seems very motivated this year and he knows he is needed after Waino went down. I think he will be effective as long as he is healthy. I think getting staying UNDER 9 is the more likely result today, good luck all.
