Josh Donaldson (calf) will start at third base Tuesday against the Yankees.

Donaldson served as the DH for the last three games due to calf soreness, so this is a sign that he's doing a lot better. The defending AL MVP is batting .310 (9-for-29) with four homers and nine RBI through seven games this season.

Evan Gattis will be activated from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.

Gattis was forced to begin the season on the DL following February hernia surgery, but he has proved his readiness by homering in back-to-back rehab games with Double-A Corpus Christi. He's set to serve as Houston's primary DH this season.

Evan Gattis is at DH and hitting seventh for the Astros on Tuesday night against the Royals.

Gattis was activated off the disabled list Tuesday morning. He missed the first week of the regular season while finishing off his rehabilitation from February hernia surgery. The 29-year-old slugger homered in each of his two minor league rehab games at Double-A Corpus Christi and can be activated right away in all standard fantasy leagues. Preston Tucker is on the bench Tuesday versus Kansas City right-hander Kris Medlen.

Darin Ruf is out of the Phillies' starting lineup Tuesday because of a sore left shoulder.

San Diego is throwing left-hander Robbie Erlin and Ruf is supposed to start against most left-handers this year. Instead left-handed hitter Ryan Howard will get the nod at first base and bat fourth for the host Phils.

Buster Posey is getting a day off Tuesday.

Trevor Brown will start at catcher and bat eighth against Rockies right-hander Tyler Chatwood. Posey is batting .391/.444/.696 with two home runs and five RBI in seven games this season for San Francisco.
