Alright so this is going to be a progressive thread once again tonight where I add winners as they night goes along. I am starting with an early play and looking to get back on track after a few rare losses on the year. I am posting from my brand new Optimax internet in my new condo so this could be some internet beginner's luck. Baseball is one of the best sports to bet on because the prices are often good and certain guys are better than others in certain situations. Here we go:
PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES ML +104
You won't find me betting on this team too much but this is a great spot to back them just like it was a great spot to back them on Sunday Night Football against a young left handed San Francisco pitching prospect. The Phillies have lost the first two games of this series so once again, this is an important game if they want to inch back towards a .500 mark before the month of June. The Arizona Diamondbacks are a red hot team and they looked pretty damn good winning the first two games of this series. On the mound tonight for the Phillies is left handed veteran Jamie Moyer. Arizona is not the kind of lineup that has guys who like to hit lefties which is why I think they are in trouble tonight. The D-Backs are batting only .230 against left handed pitchers this season and like I said before, their lineup is lacking power against southpaws. This should give the dormant Phillies bats a chance tonight because they are batting .291 against left-handed pitchers in their last 10 games and on the mound for the D-Back tonight is Randy Johnson. The Big Fade himself. I expect Moyer to turn in another solid performance like he has all year as he has allowed road opponents to hit only .228 this season. The Phillies are 2-1 in his last three starts and in those games he has an ERA of 2.66 and a WHIP of 0.93 which is pretty damn impressive. Johnson on the other hand has not pitched well recently with an ERA of 6.50 and WHIP of 1.56 in his last three starts (D-Backs are 1-2 in thsoe games). Another problem for him is that his batters are providing him with only 4.3 runs of support in those games and thats not good. Johnson has had a lot of success in his career pitching against the Phillies but that was back in the days where he knew how to pitch. Moyer has been the best pitcher on this team when it comes to needing a win as the Phillies are 5-0 the last five times he has started following a loss the night before. The only time you should ever go against the Diamondbacks is against left handed pitchers as they are 1-5 in their last six games versus left handed pitchers. This should be a great game to watch but I don't see the Big Unit having the success he has had in the past and I see the Phillies breaking out the bats tonight. The Phillies are also a lot better suited to hit lefties and its going to show tonight. Anyone using RJ's lifetime record against the Phillies to cap tonight's game doesn't have much of a clue about anything. The last time he started against the Phils was back in May of 2004 at home where he lost 4-1. RJ is going to get demolished tonight. GO PHILLIES BABY!
