I sat out the entire season so far, here is my very first play:
Wednesday, June 2
Arizona Diamondbacks ML +124 (10 Units)
You have two teams who can't hit as of late and the two games so far in this series have come down to the very last at bat and could have gone either way. The difference for me in this game is that you have Edwin Jackson on the mound for the Diamondbacks against a young Carlos Monasterios making only his third career start for the Dodgers. Jackson's numbers on the season are horrendous but in his last three starts he has an ERA of 3.18 and an impressive WHIP of 0.93 in those games. Jackson is a strikeout specialist and he has 28 strikeouts in his last three starts. WOW! The Dodgers don't strikeout much but in their last three games they have struck out 6.3 times per game (4.8 times per game versus right handed pitchers). The reason the D-Backs can't hit is because they average 9.2 strikeouts per game their last 10 games but I can tell you that Carlos Monasterios has pitched 28.2 innings this season and has only 14 strikeouts so the D-Backs won't have problems pounding away at the ball. Manny Ramirez, Russell Martin, Rafael Furcal and Casey Blake are all sitting today and the public is going to pound away on the Dodgers to win this. It's a blind bet and it's going to cost most handicappers big time. Jackson is back in his groove, he is a strikeout master and the Dodgers are batting only .229 in their last 10 games versus right handed pitchers. Diamondbacks avoid the sweep.
