MistaFlava's 2008 CBB Record: 70-63-4 ATS (+14.50 Units)
My worst day of the season on Sunday going 2-6 ATS and I don't have any sort of explanation for it. Nobody but myself to blame for it and a couple of refs (St. John's game and Michigan game) who ruined the covers at the end of regulation. My season has taken a turn for the better and now it's time to really turn up the heat. I am going to try and keep my money management ways in tact for now but can't promise I won't drop a few huge unit bombs at some point. Okay so my PS3 project is on hold right now, the results are not doing shit, it was worth a try and it was fun for now. I will bring it back when I have time to do simulations but right now my work is more important and I will revert back to my old style for some winners. Time go on a huge run and bring this record back to something good. I can really start being useful around here. I only care about the money I win and not the percentage of bets I win so taking home the cash is all that matters and proper Money Management is a must, although I have a feeling I will still drop bombs here and there. That's just the way I roll and if you don't like it I don't really give a shit. Gotta love college hoops a lot more than the NBA and believe me when I say that this is where the money is at despite some of these kids really sucking when the game is on the line. Only in this sport can you have miracle covers. Hope you enjoy my writeups.

I will tell you right now that it is very unusual for the Pitt Panthers go more than one game without covering the spread and seeing how this team failed to cover against Depaul on the weekend, my assumption is that they are going to have a much better game tonight. Here we go again, the Panthers are the #1 team in the NCAA right now and they need to show it because a lot of teams are knocking on the top spot door. The only reason these guys did not cover the spread against Depaul is because they tend to play down to a shitty opponents level. They are actually 4-0 ATS in their last four games versus teams with a straight up winning record on the year and they have enjoyed playing on Tuesdays covering the spread in their last four games played on this day. This is a great range for the Panthers as they are 5-0 ATS in their last five games when favored by 7 to 12.5 points. Apart from their ATS loss to Depaul on the weekend, this team is 5-1 ATS in their last six Big East Conference games and they are 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 road games so this is really where you want to back them. Providence has made me some cash this season but this is a great fade spot as they are only 1-6 ATS in their last seven games versus Big East Conference opponents, they are 0-5 ATS in their last five games as an underdog and they have covered the spread in only 6 of their last 26 home games as an underdog. Providence can score points most of the time but they don't handle tough Big East defenses too well and that is going to be a problem in this game. Pittsburgh is here to make a statement as the top team in the Nation according to the polls and they will not disappoint. Coming off an ATS loss playing against a bad home underdog...the formula could not be any better than this. To make things even better, Pittsburgh is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings between these teams and I am taking them straight to the bank in this one. The Panthers should have no problems winning this game big.

I have lost all trust and faith in the Ohio State Buckeyes and I am going against them here again tonight. Sure they are a young team so they will have their ups and their downs all season long but I am sick and tired of being let down by these guys and I have already moved on. I have bet against the Nitts quite a few times this season only to have it blow up in my face so I hope I am not too late to catch the Penn State money train. I am having a tough time understanding how so many people are backing an Ohio State team that is two games behind Penn State. The Nitts are coming off that pathetic looking 38-33 win over Illinois sometime last week as a +9.5 point underdog and although this is not the greatest of spots to bet on them, I think they are going to follow that win up with another good performance, something they need if they want to make the Big Dance (I think they have a good case with a win here). They are fresh, have been off for almost a week and should be ready for what is their biggest game of the season to date. Ohio State has been a good home favorite but their loss to that same Illinois team on the weekend (the Illini suck ass on the road this year) has me fading them here. What happens with young teams is that they can hit bad streaks and as good as Ohio State has been at times this year, this is a tough matchup for them. I expect this to be another somewhat low scoring game where Penn State continues to defend well and bother opponents on the offensive side of things. The Nittany Lions are 5-1 ATS in their last six visits to Ohio State and the road team has been the best bet of the night in this series going 8-2 ATS in the last 10 meetings between these teams. This is a great spot to once again go against the Buckeyes in what oddsmakers think is a bounce back game but Penn State has something going this season and I just don't get why they are such big underdogs in this game. This should be a close game that comes down to the wire with Taylor Battle winning it for the Nitts in the end.

What a game this should be and I can't believe the line is so low for the Eagles. Boston College has been one of the most inconsistent teams in the ACC Conference this season but again that comes with you and I trust these guys a lot more at home than I trust a team like Ohio State. The Seminoles on the other hand have been pretty damn good on the road and depending on what they do in the ACC Tournament they are going to be a bubble team come tournament times but having said that this is a tough spot to win and they just don't match up well with Boston College (who have been tougher than Florida State the last five games). I have to admit the Noles have been one of the best bets as road underdogs the last two seasons and they have been on an absolute tear against the spread in ACC Conference play this season and last. However, the Eagles have a lot to prove in this game tonight because the knock on these guys is that they only beat weak teams and they can't handle teams with a winning record but seeing how they beat Duke in their last home game and then lost on the road to Miami on the weekend. I think the Eagles are going to play one of their best games of the season tonight in what could turn out to be a huge game because one of these teams might be in the NCAA Tournament and one might have to settle for the NIT Tournament. The only two times these teams ever met in this building, the Eagles won both times by three points and that should be enough to cover this spread once again. The Eagles are going to be ready tonight.

I am not a big fan of betting on SEC games because this conference sucks ass but I have been impressed with the way LSU has played at times this season and now that they are ranked #18 in the Nation, I am ready to put some money on these guys for the first time this season in what should be another good game. The problem all year for the Gators has been their play on the road and this is just not a good spot for them against one of the hottest teams in college basketball right now. LSU has won 7 straight games with their only loss in the last little while being against Xavier back on January 24. A lot of critics are calling the Tigers one of the most overrated teams in the TOP 25 right now and have called them a team that is lucky and have somehow found a way to win games but I have always said that to be lucky you have to be good and vice versa so no need to hate on this team. This range of points has been a good one for LSU in the past as they are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games as a favorite of 0.5 to 6.5 points. All I keep hearing as well is that LSU is due for a loss and that they cannot keep winning SEC games are the rate that they are winning them but believe me Florida is not good enough beyond their star guard to win this game against an LSU team that has averaged 10.2 more rebounds per game in their last five games than the Gators have. The Tigers are too tough right now and Florida just does not have the depth to keep up with the Tigers and their ability to swallow everything up around the boards. Believe it or not, LSU could actually be a big time surprise team in the NCAA Tournament this year and until they lose games, I am going to jump on this money train and bet on them against teams like Florida that are lacking aggressiveness on the boards. The Gators are 2-5 ATS in their last seven meetings against LSU and something tells me the Tigers are going to win this game really big and climb into the TOP 10 in the rankings.
