Misleading Scores Week 1

This is always one of my favorite threads. I didn't see this thread for this yet, but I may have missed it with the garbage on here.

Everyone is probably aware of this by now, but UCLA 28-20 over Virginia qualifies as a misleading score. UVA out-gained UCLA in total yardage (386 v. 358) and also outscored them 20-7 on offense. UCLA scored three defensive touchdowns in the 2nd quarter. I still don't believe UCLA is that bad, but we'll see what happens in the next few weeks. They do need to sure up their OL, however.

One that is much more under the radar is in the Oregon State - Portland State game. This could have easily been a blow out. OST settled for field goals after getting within the 10 yard line five times, and settled for another one after getting within the 15 . They also missed one of those five attempts from within the 10 yard line. Given this and how good Washington made Hawaii look, OST -12.5 @ Hawaii may be worth a long look.

Oregon St should win by at least 21 over Hawaii as long as they don't play like Wash U's offense.

Virginia had the worst luck with turn I g the ball over only to see UCLA score 21 off those 3 turnovers......UCLA defense won't get that lucky again.

The scary part is that either Georgia State or New Mexico State will be 2-0 after this week.

The Cuse was outgained 389-320, but they managed to win in overtime in a pretty weak performance over I-AA Villanova...Yes, they barely won, but a weak effort in the Carrier Dome coming off a Bowl Win last year.

North Dakota State outgained Iowa State 505-253 so there was nothing misleading here.........North Dakota State is just a good team that has won so many games in a row I lost count....They beat Kansas State last year as well.....North Dakota State lost players too and their coach, but looks like they reloaded and didn't miss a beat.

Eastern Michigan won, but was outgained 479-391 by Morgan State...........In other news, they are still Eastern Michigan.

Michigan State scoring 38 in a half and 45 in a game is misleading imo. I bet they dont score 38 in a half again this year and probably wont score 45 in a game often.

Loving oregon this week but really interested to see where the total comes , may be looking at a great spot for msu tt under ???

The WR's can go up and get some passes, though. I'm not all in on the QB, just yet and he took a nasty hit on his knee. But yeah, 38 points is a lot in a half for a team that doesn't really aspire to do so. This will be a great test to see how their D is. I thought last year getting there LB's out in space and in pass coverage was the was to attack. I still think that's the way to go and Oregon is the right team to do so.

Louisiana-Monroe won by just 7, but outgained Wake Forest 352-94..........Wake Forest trying to do their Florida International impression on offense I guess this year.

Well i guess that was a wet dream. Heh the total looks like its coming 56. That wont be but about 22-23 on the spartan tt. ....Damn , back to the drawing board.

speaking of Boise I'd add Ole Miss' 22 point win as a very misleading final score

game was 7-6 in 4th quarter and Miss' O-line was getting beat up all game and allowed a dozen tackles for loss ... and Boise Dline is significantly below SEC West quality

Boise simply unable to punch it in final few yards. 1Q 3 tries on goal-to-go ended in INT, 2Q couldnt get TD with 4 tries inside the Miss 2. overall 4 Boise INT's and 3 points on two possessions inside the 3. Boise 36 minutes with ball, more first downs and Ole Miss 14 penalties.

This is my misleading score of the week. Ohio State got lucky as hell. They likely would have won the game regardless, but Navy made many uncharacteristic mistakes (sure, OSU forced some of them...but not all of them).

The FSU score should have been a 1 score final.

Bama should have won bigger.

UGA/Clemson was 24-21 going into the 4th quarter. UGA completely shut Clemson down in the 2nd half though...

I was watching that game at my bro-in-law on a really big tv in a really small room (bless his heart he went all out on the tv and its like being in the 1st row of a theatre) but it looked like the ole miss defense (especially the secondary) was bullying boise. They had 1 ejection but 4 or 5 others that looked like even worse targeting. ... looked like fast men against slow boys from where i was sitting. ... but that was some old goober acc crew. .... with an sec crew this week i look for a flag fest. .... that ole miss secondary is not to be phucked with.
