That was awful. I could see if it was a crummy offense...but they have some of the best offensive talent in the league and had to take a shot there with that much time and a timeout, too. Bulger could have thrown it out the back of the end zone if everyone was covered.
And as good as Wilkins is, that wasn't a gimme field goal even in a dome. Or an offensive penalty would have killed them.
They were lucky to even get the ball in OT because Carolina flubbed their scoring opportunity. Unreal.
Especially after getting the onside kick. They had all the momentum in the world...Panthers defense was exhausted from being on the field for so long...if nothing else they should have spiked the ball with about 10 seconds left so they could use the timeout in case of a bad snap or a penalty. Kinda glad they didn't end up winning or he would've been forgiven more easily.
And this is just his most recent error. He blows timeouts...challenges calls that have no chance of being overturned. He's still getting by with a team that Vermeil built.
if you want to blame this game on someone blame it on that coward Kurt Warner. YES - Kurt Warner. Remeber when Kurt wouldn't come in to replace NFL interception leader Bulger? BS - you get your ass out there and compete. Whomever is better will play, but at least it puts pressure on Bulger which is EXACTLY what he needs ...
his weaknesses are MOSTLY MENTAL - he throws the ball up for grabs when he's under pressure and that left Martz no choice but not to throw unless absolutely necessary.
St Louis is a great team with a poor QB and an average coach
1. Bulger - 3 INTS, no TDs
2. Jason Seahorn - NYG days again. 3rd and 14 he blows coverage and misses tackle on game winner
3. Kurt Warner - tough to pull a QB when your back doesn't like to play
4. Tory Holt - NFL receiving leader had what 2? 3 catches? Dropped a TD on a ball that was there - he over ran the adjustment and had to reach back one handed.
5. Martz - poor poor poor clutch management.
Thanks Lander - with Joe Gibbs back in the league I thought maybe it was some kind of NASCAR term. Clutch management, brakes strategy, crank shaft policy, horsepower helper, you know stuff like that.
You guys all forget who owns the Rams. You think Martz is bad, Georgia is like the Donald Sterling of the NFL (Sterling owns the Clippers for those that don't know). She won't fire the guy, he is winning enough regular season games to keep the dome filled for years to come and really that is all Georgia cares about. Winning a Superbowl? What does she need that for, already has done that.
