Just disgusting. Huckabee in 2008, relatively decent guy. Huckabee in 2015. A vile, disgusting snake who can't go low enough. Of course, the usual sickos will applaud him.

Mike Huckabee’s “Oven Door” Comments Condemned by Jewish Groups

It is not just President Obama and the Democratic National Committee condemning Mike Huckabee’s claim Saturday that President Obama is marching Israelis to “door of the oven.” It is also the Anti-Defamation League and the National Jewish Democratic Council.
Obama, commenting from Ethiopia, said that “We have robust debates, we look at the facts. We just don’t fling out ad hominem attacks like that because it doesn’t help inform the American people.”
Of course, that is exactly what Republicans do.
DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz had this to say:
From questioning President Obama’s religion to questioning whether or not President Obama loves America to asserting President Obama isn’t an American, we thought we had seen everything from the Republican Party and its presidential candidates.
But now, the most liked Republican presidential primary candidate Mike Huckabee said that President Obama is marching Israelis to “the door of the oven.” This rhetoric, while commonplace in today’s Republican presidential primary, has no place in American politics. Cavalier analogies to the Holocaust are unacceptable. Mike Huckabee must apologize to the Jewish community and to the American people for this grossly irresponsible statement.

The NJDC had words just as strong for the Republican candidate, attacking his “callous disregard” of Holocaust victims:
Far, far too often, this organization has found itself forced to denounce poiticans for invoking the Holocaust in inappropriate and offensive ways. These comments by Gov. Mike Huckabee, however, may be the most inexcusable we’ve encountered in recent memory.
[…]
In our eyes, it is almost pointless to demand Gov. Huckabee apologize for his remarks, although he certainly should. This was not a random, off-the-cuff remark, and the Jewish community deserves better than to hear a false apology that we doubt will stop the former Governor from offending again in the future. What we do demand is that Gov. Huckabee’s fellow Republican presidential candidates denounce his offensive statement at once. Republicans have fallen over themselves to speak out against Donald Trump’s outrageous rhetoric on immigration and veterans. Will they now do the same and speak out against this unacceptable attack against President Obama that smears the memory of Holocaust victims, as they did when Trump attacked Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)? Or will they stand by in silence and implicit approval? We call on every candidate to condemn Gov. Huckabee’s disgusting statement and to show where they truly stand.
The ADL’s national director Jonathan A. Greenblatt was equally blunt:
Whatever one’s views of the nuclear agreement with Iran – and we have been critical of it, noting that there are serious unanswered questions that need to be addressed – comments such as those by Mike Huckabee suggesting the president is leading Israel to another Holocaust are completely out of line and unacceptable.
Greenblatt added that,
To hear Mr. Huckabee invoke the Holocaust when America is Israel’s greatest ally and when Israel is a strong nation capable of defending itself is disheartening. The great tragedy of the Holocaust saw the Jews of Europe without allies and without power at the worst possible moment.
Barak Ravid, of Tel Aviv’s conservative Haaretz, tweeted,
Mike Huckabee thinks his rhetoric will be welcomed by Jews. It is not. It is just another example of Republican extremism run amok, of a complete, Palinesque disregard for facts or feelings.

Huckabee should be ashamed, and he owes President Obama, the American people, and particularly Jews all over the world, an apology.
Nobody will receive one, of course, because for the GOP and Religious Right, Mike Huckabee has just become the victim.

Huckabee is a complete asshat. Everyone knows this.

Sadly not everyone hhm. The usual suspects will defend his vile remarks, even applaud them. These remarks should be universally condemned, by everyone on every side of the fence.

WASHINGTON -- Picture this: In the early winter of 2008, a presidential candidate decides to upend conventional foreign policy wisdom by arguing that engagement, not confrontation, is the right route with Iran.
This isn’t some rhetorical gaffe. It’s a major policy pronouncement, laid out in a lengthy essay in a prestigious foreign affairs journal to give it gravitas.
But it’s the substance, not the placement, which matters here. In a dramatic and deliberate departure from the Bush administration’s policy of pre-emptive war, the candidate argues specifically for the concept of containment.
The stakes are too high not to, he insists. If “we do not put other options on the table, eventually a military strike will become the only viable one.”
This is no straw-man argument, the candidate assures the reader. There really are only a few paths available. If the U.S. sends military forces into Iran, the real winners will be the Sunni extremists who want regional hegemony. If the U.S. doesn’t engage at all, Iran will try to assert that hegemony itself.
In the middle is where America should be, the candidate says. And containment is the approach that must be taken.
This won’t be easy, mind you. In order to make it work, America will have to “intensify our diplomatic efforts” with other countries to “persuade them to put more economic pressure on Iran.” Of course, those countries are likely to be “more interested in pursuing profit than preventing proliferation.” But if the right pressure is applied -- if they realize that “they will bear some responsibility for having failed to maximize peaceful options” -- an effective system of sanctions could be built.

It is critical that there be a united international front, the candidate writes. Because the United States doesn’t do business with Iran directly, sanctions will “have an impact only if other countries honor them.” The Chinese and Russians will be tough to persuade, the candidate warns. But they should be courted along with India, South Korea and European states.
The good news here is that Iran can be brought to the table, the candidate says.
It’s not a terrorist group. It’s “a nation state seeking regional clout and playing the game of power politics we understand and can skillfully pursue.” Moreover, the United States has “valuable incentives to offer,” such as “trade and economic assistance, full diplomatic relations, and security guarantees.”
Whereas we “cannot live with al Qaeda,” the candidate concludes, “we might be able to live with a contained Iran” so long as it did not have nuclear weapons. And rest assured, the candidate writes, “Iran will not acquire nuclear weapons on my watch.”
So who is this pacifist, Neville Chamberlain reincarnate?
Why, it’s former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R).
Huckabee, as those not under a rock for the past seven years are aware, didn’t end up in the White House. But the person who did pursued basically the same path that Huckabee outlined in the pages of Foreign Affairs magazine’s January/February 2008 edition.
We cannot live with al Qaeda, but we might be able to live with a contained Iran. Iran will not acquire nuclear weapons on my watch. But before I look parents in the eye to explain why I put their son's or daughter's life at risk, I want to do everything possible to avoid conflict. We have substantive issues to discuss with Tehran. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, 2008

Barack Obama also called for engagement with Iran during the 2008 campaign. And though he initially resisted a tough sanctions policy on Iran, he eventually cobbled together an international coalition to economically punish Iran all the way to the negotiating table. Like Huckabee, Obama calculated that the world community would have to show a united front. Like Huckabee, he made the case that the alternative option would be military confrontation. Like Huckabee, he believed a deal based on containment and diplomacy was smart geopolitics.
The deal that Obama struck has, to put it gently, not been unanimously welcomed within the United States. Critics see too many loopholes in the compliance and verification components applied to Iran. They envision the possibility of billions in sanctions relief going to fund terrorism. And they worry about Israel’s security.
55b6550a1d00003000142b77.jpeg

On Sunday, Huckabee didn’t just join that chorus; he became its booming baritone.
“This president’s foreign policy is the most feckless in American history,” he said in an interview with Breitbart News. “It is so naive that he would trust the Iranians. By doing so, he will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven."
Huckabee’s campaign didn’t return a request for comment about how this squared with his earlier call for direct engagement with the Iranians, other than to send a statement he had made re-upping his prophesy of another ethnic cleansing.
For decades, Iranian leaders have pledged to "destroy," "annihilate," and "wipe Israel off the map" with a "big Holocaust." "Never again" will be the policy of my administration and I will stand with our ally Israel to prevent the terrorists in Tehran from achieving their own stated goal of another Holocaust.

For the simple minded amongst us. The problem is not that we negotiated with Iran while they were severely sanctioned. The problem is the result of those negotiations.

Mike Huckabee had a good strategy in 2008 and, if you were to ask Netanyahu, has it right in 2015.

Israelis must go to bed every night thinking about the continued Iranian march to a bomb with the name "Little Satan" written on its nose.

Their only sane response to the negotiated agreement has to be "how could they?".

If Bibi approves of the vile, disgusting imagery Huckabee used, he's as vile a creature as Huckabee. While I have a very low opinion of Bibi, I don't think he would stoop so low. But who knows?

[h=1]Israeli envoy: Huckabee words on Iran deal inappropriate[/h] Susan Page, USA TODAY 8:37 p.m. EDT July 27, 2015

On Capital Download, Israeli Ambassador Ron Dermer discusses Gov. Mike Huckabee's words evoking the Holocaust and Israel's response to the Iran deal.

WASHINGTON — The Israeli ambassador to the U.S., now lobbying intensively against the Iran nuclear accord, on Monday rejected as inappropriate the harsh language that Republican presidential contender Mike Huckabee used likening it to the Holocaust.
"Look, we have a very serious disagreement with the administration on a very serious issue," Ambassador Ron Dermer told Capital Download. "But what I don't doubt is the sincerity of the president or his team when they say they believe this deal not only makes America safe but makes Israel safe. Where we disagree is the judgment of actually what this deal is going to do."
On Huckabee's comments, he said: "These are not words that I would use or that I think are appropriate."

In an interview Saturday, Huckabee had called the Iran deal "idiotic" and said President Obama ultimately will "take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven." Obama, traveling in Africa, characterized the comments as "ridiculous" and "sad," but the former Arkansas governor refused to back down. "What's ridiculous and sad is that President Obama does not take the Iran threats seriously," he shot back Monday.

Huckabee: Obama's Iran deal takes Israel to 'door of the oven'

Dermer distanced himself from those remarks.

"We don't in any way impugn the motives of the people who are doing this deal," he told USA TODAY's video newsmaker series. "I think it's important to conduct this debate in a way that's befitting of the alliance between our two countries."
In the interview, Israel's top representative in Washington continued to argue that the Iran nuclear deal was a dangerous misstep, and he said he was getting a receptive hearing among many congressional Republicans and some Democrats now in the midst of a 60-day review of its details. He said he had met with dozens of congressional Democrats because "I think ultimately they may decide whether this deal goes through or doesn't go through."
He was on his way after the interview to meet with some House Republican leaders.
At this point, Dermer said he believes a majority of Congress is against the deal, but "I just don't know" whether opponents have enough votes to override a presidential veto.

Dermer's tone was measured and conciliatory. That could reflect a desire by the Israeli government to narrow the rift between the two countries — particularly if the nuclear accord ends up being implemented. He acknowledged that Defense Secretary Ashton Carter, meeting last week with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, had proposed increasing U.S. military assistance to Israel to help address security concerns as a result of the accord.
"They want to work with us to discuss what happens the day after," Dermer said. "We're not in that conversation at this point because we want to focus on preventing what we think is a very bad deal for Israel, for the region and for the world."
But he added, "We appreciate the support that we have gotten from this administration, from this president, to enhance our security. And the discussion that we'll have about the day after, we'll have to leave to the day after."

Justice says Israeli spy gets 'mandatory parole' in November

The disagreement over the Iran deal is serious and fundamental, he said, but "after this debate is aired we'll have to continue to work with the United States; Israel will have to work with the United States and wants to work with the United States in addressing the enormous challenges we're going to face. Because either way, we've got a very difficult situation in the Middle East today, and I think the United States and Israel are going to need each other more in the years ahead than they have in the past."

The ambassador also welcomed reports that convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard could be paroled from prison in November after serving 30 years of a life sentence — a cause celebre in Israel — although he said the release should not be linked to the dispute between the United States and Israel on the Iran negotiations.
"It would end a difficult chapter in relations between the United States and Israel," he said, "but Jonathan Pollard should have been released a long time ago on humanitarian grounds."

Of Course, the wingnut media shows it's usual class. Just vile, vile creatures:

[h=1]Right-Wing Media Defend Mike Huckabee's "Door Of The Oven" Comment Comparing Iran Deal To Holocaust[/h] [h=5] Research 6 hours and 27 minutes ago ››› ALEX KAPLAN[/h]
Conservative media defended Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee's recent claim -- that President Obama's negotiated agreement with Iran over its nuclear program will take Israelis "to the door of the oven" -- by praising the Holocaust comparison as "absolutely true" and "an accurate description."
[h=2]Mike Huckabee Claims Iran Deal Will Take Israelis To "The Door Of The Oven"[/h] Mike Huckabee: Obama's Iran Deal "Will Take The Israelis And March Them To The Door Of The Oven." In an interview with the radio show Breitbart News Saturday, presidential candidate and former Fox News host Mike Huckabee slammed President Obama's deal to limit Iran's nuclear capacity, claiming (emphasis added):
This president's foreign policy is the most feckless in American history. It is so naive that he would trust the Iranians. By doing so, he will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven. This is the most idiotic thing, this Iran deal. It should be rejected by both Democrats and Republicans in Congress and by the American people. I read the whole deal. We gave away the whole store. It's got to be stopped. [Breitbart.com, 7/25/15]
[h=2]Conservative Media Rush To Huckabee's Defense[/h] CNN's S.E. Cupp: Mike Huckabee's Statement Was "100 Percent An Accurate Statement." CNN conservative political commentator S.E. Cupp agreed with Huckabee's statement, saying his comment was "100 percent an accurate statement" and is "absolutely true." [CNN, CNN Newsroom With Carol Costello, 7/27/15]
Sean Hannity: "I May Not Have Used" Huckabee's Analogy, But We Could See A "Modern Day Holocaust." On his radio show, Sean Hannity said that while he "may not have used [Huckabee's] analogy," he agreed that "the reality is we can see in our lifetime a modern day Holocaust" due to the Iran deal. [Premiere Radio Networks, The Sean Hannity Show, 7/27/15]
Washington Examiner Editor: "Huckabee Is Right ... Iran Deal Would Enable A Second Holocaust." In an opinion piece headlined, "Huckabee is right: Obama's Iran deal would enable a second Holocaust," Washington Examiner managing editor Philip Klein defended Huckabee and agreed with his comment, writing:
t may sound outrageous to invoke the Holocaust to describe the deal negotiated by a U.S. president. But the Iran deal is outrageous. All Huckabee did was offer an accurate description of the reality that Israelis now face thanks to Obama. [The Washington Examiner, 7/27/15]
Breitbart: Liberal Media "Exploiting" Huckabee's Comments To Defend Obama's "Failed" Iran Deal. Breitbart.com's Warner Todd Huston claimed "left media" were "exploiting" Huckabee's Holocaust comparison to defend Obama's "failing" Iran deal:
Governor Mike Huckabee appeared on Breitbart News on Saturday and gave one quote that Huffington Post seemed to think was the most important news of the day on Sunday, likely because the lefty online newser thinks it can be exploited to help Obama's failing Iran nuke deal.
All day on Sunday, despite what was going on in the rest of the world, Huffington Post featured Breitbart's Mike Huckabee interview as the left media continues its search of any Republican "gaffe" to highlight in order to help push Obama's disastrous Iran deal over the finish line. [Breitbart.com, 7/26/15]
American Spectator Blog: If Iran Gets A Nuclear Weapon Because Of This Deal, Then "I'm Afraid Mike Huckabee Is Absolutely Right." The American Spectator's Aaron Goldstein wrote at the Spectacle Blog:
If Iran acquires a nuclear weapon it will use it against Israel. Therefore3 [sic] it is in Israel's best interest that Iran doesn't build one. But if Israel sees fit to ensure its survival and the Obama Administration interferes on Iran's behalf and Iran eventually builds and uses a nuclear weapon against Israel then I'm afraid Mike Huckabee is absolutely right. [The American Spectator, The Spectacle Blog, 7/26/15]
Special Report Panelists Agree With Huckabee: Iran Destroying Israel "Is A Real Possibility." On the July 27 edition of Special Report with Bret Baier, Fox News contributors Charles Krauthammer and George Will defended Huckabee's point, while saying he should not have said Obama will "march" Israelis "to the door of the oven." Krauthammer said of the Holocaust analogy, "This is a reality. The Iranians are obsessed with the Holocaust," and said that Israel's annihilation "is a real possibility." Will said "Huckabee is right that rhetoric should be taken seriously," citing threats from Adolf Hitler against Jewish people. [Fox News, Special Report with Bret Baier, 7/27/15]
Wash. Post Columnist Marc Thiessen: Huckabee "Is Right." On the July 27 edition of The Kelly File, Fox News contributor and Washington Post columnist Marc Thiessen said although he "wouldn't have chosen the words" Huckabee did, "he is right. It is a fact that if Iran gets a nuclear weapon it will have the capability to literally annihilate the state of Israel." [Fox News, The Kelly File, 7/27/15]
This post will be updated with additional examples.

on a more serious note, always find it kinda weird when ultra biased hacks are cited, especially when the citation is made by a person who thinks Fox News is a problem.
