In the NBA, the second one is a very small win.

No chance in the first one.

For spreads of -10 and under, use 6 cents per half point as your BASIC guide.

So -110 and -110 with the 1.5 difference is a long term loser? I was thinking it was around 7 cents to profit. Im still somewhat a rookie at the middling, but have been doing good with at least that, short term at least. I wont pay more, thats my limit.

According to my numbers, about 3.7% of all games land on a specific number which is close to the line. This would put the equivalence at about 7.5c, so theoretically a 1.5 point middle at -110 on both sides should be slightly profitable.

Still, I think 6c is a good rule of thumb because you are tying up a lot of money for that small advantage, not to mention transaction costs so you will need more than just a small edge to make the play worthwhile.

Precisely, and by doing this you improve your overall standard deviation.
