Middle explain?

Hi I try and find middles but they dont seem to be around in baseball. Am I missing something? I can find them in football or baskets but not with the differant line moves.
I just looked at todays det-yank game at 4 books. the lines were 160/175,169/177,157/177, and 155/175. Assuming a basic bet of $100 for simplicity how is this middled. do bet the yanks at minus 175 and then bet less than 100 at the 169 shop? thanks for the help.

You can't middle a money line..you could scalp one if you could say find a -150 on one side and a +152 on the other. Once in a while you may find an over/under worth "siding"...say over 8- and under 9. You could try some polish middles...taking -1.5 runs with both teams at plus money and pray the game doesn't land on 1!!

interesting...

a few days ago I posted a question about baseball totals but due to a mistake I made in the post with the numbers I didnt get any serious replies....

My question was wether or not this situation would be profitable in the long run....

Betting:

OVER 9.5 -110
UNDER 9.0 + 150

***The bet would be set up in such a way to guarantee a profit wether the game goes over or under....OF COURSE... if the game lands exactly on 9 the bet would be a LOSER. Over the Long haul would you guys figure this to be a winning or losing proposition?***

SS, I think you want to find something like:

OVER 8.5 -110
UNDER 9.0 +105

then you are paying a small premium for a big return on the 9. In your example you are subject to a big loss as Lander points out.

I find these situations from time to time. The last I had was returning over 30-1 if I hit. I missed

Edit: In the example you give I calculate over 8% return if the bet is not biased to either O/U and so long as it does not land on the dreaded 9 more than 1 time in 7 you will make money.

How about maybe because you are playing into 20 cent lines. What the hell are you doing playing into books with 20 cent lines? There's your probble, bobby boy. You ain't going to find anything there. You need to find the 8 cent and 10 cent line books to start with to make it easier. Even that is hard enough, imagine doing what you're doing and playing into 20 cent lines, and graduated lines.. Forget it!! Stick to books that have an opinionated lines and move on their own action and not follow the screen. Try waiting till 2 min before gametime and you will be shocked at how many scalps you are capable of finding. ONLY use 8 and 10 cent line books if you want to scalp..

Love those 90 second scalps! Never know which book closes on the time and which closes on first pitch and I'm so fumble fingered.

VERY tough to middle MLB, and if you're constantly seeing those ops you might be playing into a HIGHLY risky book.

College Hoops is the place for middling, and it's profitable - but it's much too grinding for my likes. I'd rather hop on Shrink steam powered Express for a quick buck in hoops
