The defense ruled the day in Michigan's first spring game under new coach Jim Harbaugh. The offense struggled against a defense that intercepted 3 passes and held the offense to just 73 yards rushing, half of those (35 yds) on the first play of the game The defensive line was outstanding with 15 tackles for loss and 5 quarterback sacks.

Harbaugh declared Shane Morris the front runner in the quarterback battle. The quarterbacks were 15 of 27 for 95 yards and 2 interceptions on the day.

An estimated crowd of 60,000 attended the game.

*I got to think Harbaugh will rely heavily on his defense until he has confidence in a quarterback.

Harbaugh has major problems with his offense. He is going to have to be patient and hope that he can develop a QB this season. Next season part of the schedule turns over so he gets to visit MSU and OSU. Year three is his do or die year. BYU at home and Utah on the road are no gimmies, much less the Big 10 schedule he faces.

I think Harbaugh is waiting for 4 star QB recruit Zack Gentry (New Mexico) to arrive this summer for workouts. He's the 6-6, 238 pound kid Rivals had rated the number 4 quarterback in the 2015 recruiting class. Gentry received offers by a ton of big boy schools. (Alabama, Texas, Tennessee, Penn State, Nebraska, Baylor, TCU, Oklahoma State, Oregon State plus some lessor schools) He was Harbaugh's number 1 recruiting target once he took the job at Michigan.

I'm betting he will be given every opportunity to win the QB job..................

i think Michigan will surprise many.. their defense was not that bad and will be competitive. If you look at the Stanford teams they were not always the most talented team on the field. He needs a QB, RB, TE, and 1 WR who could be a threat down field and he will move the ball in his system..his teams never beat themselves at the collegiate level. well disciplined, fundamental football and they won. very similar to the old bear bryant teams, simple fundamental football... nothing flashy, just line up and whip the guy across from you.. you will see the same with ttun ! Right now his offensive talent at the skill positions is not very good and he will win with them.. as the talent improves Blue will challenge in the BIG much sooner then later..

It's still Michigan (the Maize & Blue). With Harbaugh at the helm, the Wolverines will win more than they lose. Whether you
like him or not, he is a sly, feisty "hard-nose" who will kick-some-ass into submission....Maybe that is what some of these
"affirmative-action" candy-asses need. A lot of these "prima-donna" Jocks have had their asses wiped by someone else far
too long......not just at Michigan.
