Never fear, government to the rescue….

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- The federal government will give car-manufacturing communities $50 million in grants to train laid-off workers for jobs in the energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors, the White House's auto recovery leader said Thursday.

The funds also will provide job counseling and placement services.

"American workers are the best in the world, and they have been hard hit by changes in the auto industry," said Ed Montgomery, President Barack Obama's director of recovery for auto communities and workers. "This funding will help workers gain new skill sets that build upon their manufacturing experience."

The only problem is by the time the money gets there the people will have starved to death.

12.9 % are only the ones drawing unemployment.

I always found the unemployment # a farce. As you point out the # only reflects those currently collecting, it does not include those that ran out. One would have to assume the # is somewhat higher.

I guarantee you that the unemployment rate is much higher, the government has been fuzzing those numbers for years.

8.9% unemployment is really more like 12 or 13%. 13% unemployment in Michigan is probably more like 17%. That state is fucked up and the reason they keep voting socialist is because all of the people with sense voted with their feet and moved out and now you just have this rotten core of Unions, auto workers, ghetto bunnies that out number the good hard working people.
