[h=1]Michigan most popular bet to win college football national title[/h]David PurdumESPN Staff Writer

Six weeks before the college football season kicks off, Alabama is the consensus favorite to win the national championship. But the Crimson Tide are not the most popular bet in Las Vegas.
More bets have been placed on the Michigan Wolverines to win the national title than any other team at multiple Las Vegas sportsbooks. The Wolverines' championship odds have moved from 15-1 to 7-1, making them the second favorites behind Alabama at the Westgate SuperBook.
More money has been bet on Michigan to win the championship than on any other team at the SuperBook, and Jim Harbaugh's squad has attracted 10 percent of all the national title bets at William Hill's Nevada book. The Wolverines also have attracted the most bets to win the title at the MGM and Westgate sportsbooks.
The Wolverines return a bevy of experience from last season's 10-3 team but are still looking for a starting quarterback. Juniors Wilton Speight and John O'Korn, a transfer from Houston, are the leading candidates.

</aside>Michigan is a 41-point home favorite in its opener against Hawaii on Sept. 3. Colorado is the only team from a Power 5 conference on the Wolverines' nonconference schedule. But Michigan will face Michigan State, Iowa and Ohio State on the road in Big Ten play.
There's plenty of support in Las Vegas for the Buckeyes, too. Ohio State has attracted the most money to win the national title at the sportsbook at the South Point casino, but it's close.
"[Ohio State] has about $20 more than Michigan," said Chris Andrews, sportsbook director at the South Point casino.
Ohio State will host Michigan on Nov. 26. The Buckeyes opened as 6.5-point favorites against the Wolverines at the South Point. The line has been bet down to Ohio State -5, and Andrews says 88 percent of the money wagered on the Big Game at this point is on Michigan.
Ohio State is 8-1 to win the national championship at the SuperBook.

Michigan is going to be good. How good depends on how much the qb improves through the year. With that said Ohio will be good as well and by the end of the year when they play, all of those new starters will have more experience, and that game will be in Columbus. But make no mistake, Michigan will have an extremely good defense and they return a ton of starters all over including the best TE and one of the best wr's is college. The O-line will be one of the most experienced lines in college football. The D-line is going to be really good, to go along with one of the top CB's. Plus that Peppers guy. I personally don't think they will make the playoff but who knows. I mean it's a pretty good bet whoever wins the big ten will be in the playoff and its a pretty good bet that the winner of the big ten will either be Michigan or Ohio.

Harbaugh began his championship HC career at San Diego and was discovered
by the Stanford brain trust 2 years later. Everyone knows what he did with that
program and it's survived to this day. Then he made major waves in the NFL.

Now he is coaching where he belongs. Plain and simple, Harbaugh is a winner.

(I still don't understand how/why MSU beat him in their rivalry game last year.)

Agreed Harbaugh is a good coach/recruiter and a shot in the arm for Michigan but I'm
not on the Michigan bandwagon for a national title or Big Ten title. I have them the
third best team in the conference this season. 1. Ohio State 2. Iowa 3. Michigan
T-4. Nebraska and Wisconsin. My view and others may disagree..............

No doubt Harbaugh can build a program. So far he's topped out before getting any kind of title. Part of that may be that he wears out his welcome real fast. There are already people talking about the entire demeanor getting old. If they really start winning, it'll be over the top.

who is talking about his act getting old? serious question. I follow the program pretty closely and everyone ive ever heard loves the guy. especially the kids. I have no doubt he is a hard ass but I've never seen a kid have anything but raving opinions of him.

Well, you're inside the program and he's winning, so its still honeymoon time. Im making more reference to further outside the program. And it started last year. Michigan acted like they were too good to give interviews. The friction getting close to home takes a little longer. The resume is solid though. Harbaugh runs hot and works his coaches pretty hard. The thing is, his kind of drive is very rare. That's naybe why he doesnt last long in one place.

There is zero argument that he is bat shit crazy and a hard ass and ultra intense at all times. I'm sure some assistants eventually tire of it, but then again his assistants seem to move on to bigger jobs after not a lot of time under him. I get I'm biased here but I dont see him leaving anytime soon. In san fran for example he would just avoid any questions related to his job. So far at Michigan he has repeatedly come out and said he doesnt see himself leaving Michigan when he does get asked. The AD and him seem to know each other pretty well and like each other. As long as he doesn't do anything insanely crazy I can't see the president or AD having a problem with his antics. As far as the kid, the turn over every 4 years so they probably won't tire of him either. Plus he will be sending a ton of them to the NFL which is what they want.

They also have Wisc and PSU, two physical home games, back to back and a dangerous Indiana game between Iowa and OSU. The Indiana game was double ot last year.
