Maybe it's partially the fact that I like John Daly also, but I'm becoming a fan of Michelle Wie the more I read all these posts by the haters.
She's still only 17 and blessed with more talent that most female golfers will ever possess. She's having emotional problems right now but I'm hoping and praying that she figures it out eventually and reaches her potential.

Many girls might have lost some of their athletic ability, (although I seriously doubt it), but either way it's irrelevant because Michelle Wie hasn't. Her problems are all emotional/psychological. And what history? Wie's talent and record so far are unprecedented. Name another 16 yo female who has hit the ball 300+ yards and played in PGA tour events?
Wie is not attractive and not all that great at golf. Why she gets so much hype and so many endorsements is beyond me. Also, I agree with Railbird that she is scum. LOL at quitting on the 16th and then coming back the next day to hit on the range. The overrated cry baby has so little confidence in her game that she didn't think she could par 1 of the last 2 to break 88. And she still talks about wanting to play with the men, hahahahahahahaha. Give me a break.
Hey don't get me wrong. I love John Daly. It's Wie's attitude, not her golf game, that turned me into a Wie basher. She just has a lack of respect for other golfers and for the game itself. She's had numerous run-ins with other players on the LPGA tour during rounds and now this BS with quitting on the 16th AND THEN coming back to hit on the range a day or two later. Thats basically her saying, "I'm bigger than the tour, I can do as I please." I know she is young, but if she isn't mature enough to handle it and play by the same rules as other players then guess what. She shouldn't be playing in the tournaments.
Also, let's not forget one thing before we even mention her in the same breath as John Daly. John Daly may be a side show act now, but he got his big endorsements AFTER winning the 1991 PGA championship as the final alternate in the tournament. What has Wie done to deserve any of her endorsements. That's an insult to Daly to compare Wie to him IMO. she hasn't won a damn thing. He earned his endorsements through his major championship win and his good ole boy attitude. I like John Daly b/c I can relate to him. He drinks, he smokes, he gambles, and he doesn't try to act like he is holier than thou. He admits that he has been lucky to get where he's at and that he has a lot of problems. I probably should cut Wie more slack, but this latest incident was enough to push me to where I can't stand this chick.

There is no good reason why Wie "should" be playing on the PGA tour. Should means...
1. Used to express obligation or duty:
...and obviously Wie has no duty or obligation to play on the PGA tour.
But I can give you one good reason why Wie was allowed to play on the PGA tour, and again, quite obviously it was because she was given an exemption by the PGA tour and its sponsors. Now why would the PGA tour and its sponsors give Wie an exemption if, as you say, there are so many 13 yo girls who can hit the ball 300 yards? ANSWER: They wouldn't! Wie was a phenomenon and she generated an enormous amount of interest when she played against the men, which is why the PGA tour and its sponsors gave her the exemption to play on the PGA tour. True, she didn't succeed, but then again, no other young girl has succeeded against the men either. She's still only 17 and has a helluva career ahead of her.
By the way, Illini, I'm not praying for her golf game, she already has the talent...as I said, she's having serious emotional/psychological problems right now and my prayer is that she will solve those problems and reach her enormous potential.
I really didn't like her much before but now seeing all these vitriolic/hateful comments about her, I've become a fan of hers. And think about it this way....even if she never makes another putt or another buck from her golf game, she has still made more money from her golf game than anyone else in this forum or even everyone combined in this forum for that matter!
For some odd reason I was thinking about Wie while working out yesterday.
What struck me is that all of her accomplishments and accolades have come from her being so young. But that's quickly changing and pretty soon will make her irrelevant (I'm assuming she's still relevant which is debatable). Eventually she'll win her first major at around 28 but what will it matter - she'll just be another average-aged LPGA player
