Nobody said it doesn't happen. Your assertion that it only happens to black people is laughable.

And, if guys like Bennett didn't lie so much, maybe we'd make progress. Cops lie too.

Cops lie too lol. That's all they know how to do is lie for each other.

I never said white people don't get harassed. I've been harassed. But it takes special circumstances. I was a teenager. The cop was a young asshole cop trying to make a name. And I had tints on my car, which county cops can't pull you over for but it is taken as you are hiding something. So it can happen just happens a lot more to minorities. Whether it's being harassed or assaulted.

This is your perception based on no plausible statistical data whatsoever. That's what the posters here keep trying to tell you.

I guess I don't understand, why in the letter he penned, he had to mention Treyvon Martin and Michael Brown? Those two situations don't mirror his.

The facts didn't add up to the stories in the Martin and the Brown case. Maybe he's letting us know his facts won't pan out either?

He's a big BLM, Kaepernick supporter. He has a story to tell that fits his narrative based on a lie.

He's too dumb to realize there's video everywhere in LV.

I love watching the NFL and my Seahawks but this clown makes me so mad. I watched about 75% less football on television last year. I think this year will be the same.

Someone should tell these guys to shut the fuck up and play ball.

I don't have a problem with Bennett and his opinions and what he may or may not support. My ideas and beliefs are drastically different than his. His facts don't add up and he is polluting the game I love with his antics. I just wish he would stand for the anthem on Sundays. Go out and works towards rectifying whatever injustices he perceives exist but do it on his own time.

How and why are the two main questions. I do not care about that dumbass misleading ass data. You don't understand that.

The data question is important because data is how we validate reality. If you don't have data to back your claims, your claims are perceptions but not necessarily reality.

Your opinions are based on your perception but not reality.

Doesn't matter. Shit happens every day. A black guy is the suspect and another black guy eats pavement for it.

Point is if it was a white guy.....do the cops go up to the guy and ask him questions or do they draw guns on him? For me to even ask that question is kinda ridiculous dont you think?

Last week seen a video on here with a white female laying on the ground with a gun.....cop says...."don't get up!" Lady starts to get up....." cop says she's got a gun"..... then waits for her to get all the way up for the cop to say......" don't draw that weapon." Lololololol

Then he shoots her. So she had a gun. Gets off the ground WITH the gun....and then another warning? !?!?!??!?!?!? Don't draw the weapon?!??!?!?!?!?

Lets be serious for a second. Yeah white people are treated exactly like black people. LMFAOOOO

Nice act, keep it up!

Good point given that the NYPD has shot and killed dozens of unarmed citizens in the 17 ensuing years....

Dozens of UNARMED ?? maybe some were mistakes
Not sure about the unarmed part, at least not dozens

how about the 64 Cops shot and Killed in 2016 ... Mistakes ?? don't think so

there's no excuse for what happened back in 99, and plenty of others ( Including the Eric Garner death which I said was 100% the Cops fault )

cool. I'm an idiot to an idiot.

If people get locked up when they fuck up, then cops should get locked up when they fuck up. That simple. Nothing to do with race. That is just how I am with humans. You should be held responsible for your actions. and the only reason the race card is brought up because most of these cops are in poverty areas killing and arresting people in these targeted areas. I don't give a shit what the numbers say. I know damn well they aren't in my county now even though there are probably just as many drugs where I live now as there was in the city. Might actually be worse out here. Sooooo many rich white kids into heroine and shit like that. Pill epidemic. Pills are not cheap. You aren't going to find that on a block in the hood. Just priorities is what it comes down to. Who do you want to lock up? Lets lock up the poor minorities who can't find their way out of the situation and we have them working in jail for pennies. Modern day slavery. It's fucking genius. That's how we operate as a country. I'm glad and grateful I am white though. I can tell you that. And all of you should be too.

Now who is the idiot.

You do understand you are what's wrong with society, right?

Kevin McMahill, the Undersheriff of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, gave the LVMPD's version of events during the department's press conference.

According to McMahill, police received a call around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday about a possible active shooter who was believed to be somewhere around Drai's nightclub at the Cromwell casino.

When officers arrived at the hotel, it was total chaos as hundreds of people were attempting to flee the supposed shooter (the Daily Mail has a picture that was taken as people were fleeing.

After clearing the casino, a team of officer's started heading toward Drai's nightclub, and while they were on the way there, they located Bennett.
"As they moved toward the nightclub, an individual later identified as Bennett was seen crouched down behind a gaming machine as the officers approached," McMahill sald. "Once Bennett was in the officer's view, he quickly ran out the south doors, jumped over a wall onto Flamingo Road East of Las Vegas Boulevard into traffic."

According to McMahill, the officers viewed Bennett's actions as suspicious, which is why he was handcuffed.

"Due to Bennett's actions, and the information the officer's had at the time, they believed that Bennett may have been involved in the shooting and they gave chase," McMahill said. "Bennett was placed in handcuffs and detained while officers determined whether or not he was involved in the incident."

In his statement, Bennett said his time in custody felt like an "eternity" due to the brutal way that the officers treated him.

McMahill said the Seahawks defensive end was in custody for 10 minutes.

"He was detained for approximately 10 minutes and released," McMahill said.

McMahill also added that Bennett told the officers that he "understood" why the situation happened after Vegas police explained it to him.

"Mr. Bennett, at the scene, had the incident explained to him by a supervisor and he said that he understood and that he had no problem with what the officers did," McMahill said.

However, McMahill did go on to say that Bennett did actually mention having an issue with one of the cops.

"He claimed the officer pointed a gun at his head," McMahill said.

McMahill didn't deny Bennett's claim that an officer said he wanted to blow the NFLplayer's "head off."

"That's part of what we have to investigate," McMahill said.

McMahill showed a five-minute video that was taken by a police body camera on the night of the incident, and the end of the video appears to show an officer holding something up to Bennett's head.

Basically, the LVMPD's version of events is that they got a call of shots fired at a casino. They didn't know exactly what the shooter looked like, so they looked for any suspicious people and Bennett qualified because he allegedly attempted to flee after noticing a group of officers.

The exact truth about what happened probably won't come out for another few days, but there's a good chance that it will come out at some point because Vegas has more security cameras than pretty much every other city in the world.

According to McMahill, the LVMPD will have to sift through hours of video footage before they get to the bottom of what happened.

"We learned of Mr. Bennett's allegations just this morning and an internal investigation has been opened," McMahill said. "Part of that investigation includes pulling footage from dozens of body cameras. As of today, we know there are at least 126 videos associated with those cameras that we have to review. As you can imagine, it takes a significant amount of effort and time to review all the video and available evidence. If the investigation reveals that any polices or training was violated, those officers will be held accountable."

One thing that McMahill did note is that the officer accused of threatening Bennett either didn't have a body camera, or he had it and it wasn't on. McMahill also noted that he didn't believe this was a case of racial profiling because the two officers who handcuffed Bennett were both male Hispanics.

One other thing that should be noted is that there's no video of Bennett fleeing. The lone video shown at the press conference only showed Bennett when he was already on the ground. With 126 pieces of video out there, a more accurate version of events should eventually come out.

Lot of questions that do not make the police look good:

-It was a crowded Las Vegas strip casino on one of the busiest nights of the year. Reported that lots of people were running away from suspected gun shots. Why did the cop choose this person to take down, handcuff, and threaten?

-There was only a noise that sounded like a gunshot, not any actual shots fired. Therefore no one could have been identified as a shooter, therefore Michael Bennett could not have fit the description of suspect as there was no gunman.

-The police were going into an area after receiving many calls of an active shooter. Why did this cop choose to turn off his body camera?

-Why isn't LVMPD denying any of Bennett's claims?

From an online article: "We learned of Mr. Bennett's allegations just this morning and an internal investigation has been opened," McMahill said."

Police take down and handcuff a celebrity on camera and no one else in LVMPD knows about it until today? Anyone else in the world would lose their job if their boss finds out they were hiding something like that.

1) They went into the casino to investigate this report and here's what they said:

After clearing the casino, a team of officer's started heading toward Drai's nightclub, and while they were on the way there, they located Bennett.

"As they moved toward the nightclub, an individual later identified as Bennett was seen crouched down behind a gaming machine as the officers approached," McMahill sald. "Once Bennett was in the officer's view, he quickly ran out the south doors, jumped over a wall onto Flamingo Road East of Las Vegas Boulevard into traffic."

2) Cops had a report of shots fired in a casino. When responding to this kind of call, there is very little information to go on. They simply don't know. Often times, first reports by witnesses are wrong. The shots fired call was incorrect and I'm sure the witness statements about a shooter were incorrect too. Throw in alcohol and people were probably all over the board with what they reported to the cops.

3) Maybe he didn't have it on to begin with? The investigation will provide the answer.

4) They are conducting an investigation so why jump to conclusions until they further review the 126 different cameras they have at their disposal. I'll tell you though, the TMZ video doesn't back what Bennett says happened that night.

Huh? Believe it or not, some people have no clue who Michael Bennett is and don't care who he is. We know him because this is our world. They may not have known who he was.

Cops handcuff people all the time. They detain people for their own safety until they find out what happened.

Very plausible to believe these dudes had no clue who he was that night.
