could possibly have the most pathetic fans , or maybe it's just a lack of fans..

how you have that many empty seats in a semi final playoff game is beyond me..

I used to live in South Florida and I completely agree. Too many snow birds and golfers. They lost the Miami Fusion MLS team and they were one of the best teams. The Marlins will leave because nobody wants to build them a stadium, except for O. Goodman the mayor of Las Vegas. Last year the Heat were giving tickets away to fill the lower bowl. The Dolphins even have to buy TV time to promote their new season ticket packages because they don't sell out anymore either. Miami is no sports town.

Watching the Heat tonight (leading by 10 6 minutes to go) I don't see them beating the Pistons if they meet in the Eastern Confernece finals. They seem to lack intensity maybe because of the Wizard's lack of talent not inspiring them or with Shaq being less than 100% - this team does not look like an NBA champion.

Miami fans are definitely among the worse. Remember how Nebraska and Ohio State outnumbered them about 20 to 1 in the two national championship games? Same for the pro teams, I never saw so many empty seats as the AA Arena a few years ago, talk about wishful thinking. Build a 22,000 seat stadium just so you can fill it up every time the Knicks come to town. They had maybe 10,000 fans for that game, a Friday night game. Give them a winning team and they just fill it up more, but getting tickets is still no issue until either a popular opponent or a really big series hits. I remember in their first World Series win they didn't even come close to filling it up in the playoffs against the Giants and Braves. It took the Indians and the World Series before people finally showed up. Last time around it took the Cubs and the Yankees to fill it up. We haven't even touched on how horrible the attendance was for the Panthers either.

Sad but true, they definitely haven't done anything to deserve all four major sports teams. Of course the locals will tell you it was better when it just was the Dolphins around.

Will not argue with you about the fact that Miami's fans are not the best around. However, the lack of fans at the beginnng of the game was for a couple of reasons. The start times here are usually at 7:30 and I think that the early start time had a little to do with the fact that there were a ton of empty seats early on. Also, there was a very bad accident on I-95 and people could not get there because of that. The place did fill up by the second quarter.

Just got back from the Heat game. The Heat has sold out every game this year and try getting a playoff ticket, it is a very tough ticket.

FVCK TNT for starting the game at 7 PM. I was in my seat by tipoff but 7 PM sucks the big one to start a weeknight game.

Atlanta also bad

The Braves fail to sell 10,000 tickets for first round playoff games and the Hawks attendence is the worst. They lost the Flames to Calgary and the Falcons started selling out last year when a portion of upper deck seats got priced at a league low of $10.

What time did the Heat regular season games start? Many Eastern teams start games at 7pm all year long so people get home on a weeknight by 10:15pm

I agree South Fla is not a great sports town...mainly because half their population is either snowbirds or senior citizens...But lets not forget that that the University of Miami is a small private school in comparison to the the Large State schools of Ohio St and Nebraska which their student body/alumni outnumber UM's by much more then a 20-1 ratio

Nor, I was about to make this same post earlier tonight, as I sat watching the Heat and Marlins game side-by-side, and noticed that the Miami crowd was not at either event.

Miami(like LA) has a mindset and populace that live for museums, restraunts, the coast, events, outdoors,etc..and the older I get I fully understand them.

Most Atlanta folks live so far out in Gwinnett, Alpharetta,etc..that the ride into Buckhead is a pain..Houstonian sports have some similar problems with The Woodlands being 40 miles away, yet they still show up for mediocrity at a nice clip.

My purist love for most non-football or playoff time sports has greatly waned since my youth..gambling makes most tolerable.

Life is way too short to live on a phone, while staring at DBS and a wall of tubes all day..even when times are good!
