Parking fees weren't just for profit. The problem is the regular casino customers are forced to search for a spot in the garage taken up by Las Vegas Strip browsers and conventioneers who don't gamble in the casino.

?

Not following that one at all since when this program was initially started, it penalized everyone. Clearly charging for parking was not going to stop Strip browsers and conventioneers, but it did hurt the regular casino customers and guests. With the change, they are still penalizing their guests by adding a surcharge to the resort fee (but not as bad as they were with the paid parking). And those Strip browsers, conventioneers, and locals just dropping by to play for the day get the break.

I'm in Vegas now.... my 1st trip. We were at MGM for a while last night & it was so crowded you could hardly walk. Guess them charging for parking don't matter to most. We are planning on going to Freemont street tonight......If I am dialed in on a Ultimate Texas Holdem table would it be safe enough for my bride to take a stroll down the street by herself to check out other sites? Going to research a little before we leave to make sure just thinking some of you guys familiar with the area could chime in on any do's or dont's.

I was shocked at MGM in Springfield the one time I went. Lost a couple of hundred, walked out of there with a few one hundred dollar bills, and a 5 dollar bill to tip valet. They charged me $ 5 to park which I wasn't expecting, so I bummed the tip off my wife. She would only give me 1 single, she's not a big tipper :)

So the valet parking attendants paid my parking fee with what would have been their tip.

That must have been a Valet charge cause I went just a couple weeks ago and self parked for nothing.

I'm hoping the Encore in Boston (when it opens) doesn't charge for parking, but I'm not optimistic about it.
