Was wondering if anyone had insight on the Mexican Primera Division.
I'm going to try and follow it for a few reasons:
-Just about every game is on TV (if you get all the Spanish language channels) making it easier to follow
-I'm trying to improve my Spanish so figure it can't hurt
-Pretty entertaining and evenly matched league.

Personally, I think the brand of soccer in Mexico sucks. I can't watch it. My in laws are Mexican, huge soccer fans and watch the league all the time. They only somewhat watched European and non-Mexican International stuff in the past. I finally got them watching it and now they think the Mexican league sucks in comparison. They still watch though.

Thanks.
I'm sure the leauge is not on the level of a Premiership, but it has to at least be on a par with MLS right?
They do have the announcer screaming GOLLLLLLLLLL for like five minutes straight going for them too.

True story:
I'm watching a game last week. I have one team to win but I'm not sure which team since I am unfamiliar with the players and the jerseys and color schemes. I had taped it so I didn't want to go online to look up the team's kits and colors as I though I might accidentally stumble upon the score.
So I'm watching and one of the teams scores in the 6th minute. There is about a one minute pause for me as I wait to see the scoreboard on the screen updated to make sure which team scored the goal. It wasn't who I wanted but at least then I knew which side I was rooting for. I can't imagine if they had gone scoreless and some team scores in the 90th minute and I'm left there wondering which team scored.

It isn't so much the quality of the teams, it is the style of play. IMO, the teams in Mexico are better, but the MLS is more entertaining. Think Mexico's national team and how they play, all the teams are uninteresting like the national team is.

Been there done that GD...Was drunk and looking for some action a few weeks ago, saw random south american game listed on 5D, make a small play. Find the game on SopCast but the quality is horrible. No score early, can't tell which team I am rooting for! Everytime they show a name and a logo (for a yellow card, etc), I can't read the name to look it up online! I can see the logo, but couldn't figure out how to do a logo-search. I know I have the home team so I try to look at the crowd color, but the stream quality sucks...Finally a team scores right before half, small crowd behind the net goes crazy, I'm thinking that's the home team....but no.

Crazy shit.

So the Mexican Primera Division is a possession oriented, defensive league, as a whole?

Does anyone know of any english-based sites for gleaning info?

yes, with a lot of crappy attempts at one v. one play down the wings. All of their best players are now out of the league. Marquez (who I think sucks), Salcedo, Vela, Dos Santos, Guardado, Blanco (old, but still better than most of their internationals), Nery Castillo.

GD posted www.soccerway.com that has a lot of great info and historical info. Not sure how current its info and news is for upcoming games, it is new to me.

Many have moved on to La Liga, I take it.

They pay quite well though in the Primera Div. Is it possible for the MLS to steal some 2nd tier players?

Thanks, fhm.
