There is not a 53 year old smoker in the world with the lungs of a 30 year old non-smoker. Sorry, there just isn't...

Maybe you would like to read my PFT's ?? or look at my X-rays

Now... The Doctor isn't telling me it's Ok to Smoke ! Tells me Every year to Quit
Tells me all the dangers, etc......

and 4 years ago I went for a 2nd opinion... same Results

and just to clear the record........ he said I have Lungs of a Man in his 30's
this was last year at age 52

I go every Year, like clock work to get tested. The whole 9 yards

When I take my lung test and the doctor says that I have Lungs like a 30 year old ( I'm 53 ), and Scans are All clean. I have no need "Yet" to quit.

Will I ?? Yes, some day I will.. Just Not right now.

Keep on telling yourself it's ok and your health is fine. You, my friend, have an immediate need to quit smoking yesterday.

thanks for your concern.... I'm fine with my smoking.

I do NO Drugs what's so ever.... and don't drink much at all ( alcohol )

I do Fast Food maybe 4-5 times a Year ...and even though i could lose about 10-15lbs ....I'm working on that part right now. ( started to walk 1 mile a day )

Eating Healthy .... and doing some Light work outs

I 100% understand that Smoking is Bad for you, and can Kill you.... and one day I will quit !
I'm just not ready to. (<)<

your PFT results are based on expected results for your age, so maybe your lung capacity was great, and some other scores were great... all that means is you don't have signs of cancer right now.

next year when you take the test (god forbid this happening) your results may be much lower, then the doctor knows that you have something going on in your lungs.

most lung cancers are not detected until it is too late.

your best chance of not getting cancer is to stop smoking, getting a test every year may make you feel better but it does nothing to increase your survival rate.

let me put this in betting terms, you took the dog for +500, checking the score every 2 minutes does not increase your chances of winning.

Let me help you with this one and I am being completely honest with you...as honest as a guy can be. You are not ready to quit because you are not physically or mentally tough enough to quit. You have tried several times but the nicotine (that rest assured will kill you) will not allow you to stop. You are telling yourself, family and us that you're not ready to quit. That's bullshit and we know it. If you could turn back time I guarantee you'd tell me you wish you would never have started.

Betall, I don't know you from Adam but do yourself and family a favor and stop so you can live the rest of your life in peace and comfort. Just cut out the lies and bullshit and make it happen. You have it in you for sure.

It's funny the guy here with the health issues is giving the best advice he can give and it will be ignored. Sad really.
