Surf you're doing it all wrong. You have to do it like Herman Jones! Or stand near the 100$ window at the Meadowlands and listen to the money!

There are alot of fixed racing at Harness Tracks but its holding your horse back more than making it win! In other words running a perfect 2nd or 3rd! But 38% of racing, thats a bit to much!

Ellen , at the smaller tracks I di beleive that the drivers will fix races because the purses are so small they cannot live off the money racing legit, However I really do not think they fix them at The Meadowlands ,as a good driver can make a very handsome living with the Meadowlands purses.

TheRecordKeeper2,
You might not think that at THE MEADOWLANDS everything is legit but YOU ARE WRONG! There is race fixing at EVERY TRACK in America, not all the time! There are horses just out for a jog during a race and then there are jocks that will say and win a certain race! Bottom line more fixing done at the smaller tracks but don't kid yourself its done all over racing!

This was an interesting harness race. By this thread, I take it the horse was 10-1 with 7 minutes to post. He went off as the 9-5 favorite. And he could see 'em all the whole trip. Get 'em next time.

Grew up around South Louisiana 'anything goes' racing. A lot of the guys spent half the time having their horses run back in the pack to get odds up. Some of the fixing was very informal. Word would circulate so and so group was gambling on their horse tonight. Some you didn't want to cross. Other Jocks would not want to beat them. All the way down to the shaky fix of "smoking" a QH with weed.

Smoking horses, a common and vastly misconstrued
practice especially a few years back. While I never personally saw weed used for a desired result I can envision horses stopping at the quarter pole for a bag of chips!!!!

Hey Makers, It really only worked on QH's. It does wonders for some. The horses would head to the gate looking like they were just about asleep but when the bell rang and the gates sprang they were off like a shot. Saw two smoked in one race, they ran one-two. Did see a real longshot TB get smoked once going a mile. The horse had never shown early speed. He was in front by five on the backstretch. And then the entire field passed him before the far turn. BOL.

BTW, Not dropping a dime on anyone. Most of these practices are well known to many.
