Good morning gentlemen. I usually don't post much in the NFL forum, but I'm on this game big. I have watched the line do it's dance since it opened and I finally cut in and took the Seahawks +3. I know everyone and their mother is hammering Denver as the line movement clearly shows, but not this guy. Here is why...
*Everyone sees this matchup as the Denver offense against the Seattle defense. I get that, but why is no one talking about the Seattle offense against the Denver defense. The Broncos have lost some key players and I do not see them stopping Beast Mode and Wilson. Seattle's offense has played some of the best defense's in the league as of late and going against a depleted Denver defense should work in Seattle's favor. I think Wilson has a huge game against a banged up secondary that is the 4th worst in the NFL.
*Denver will not be able to run the ball effectively against Seattle who is barely giving up over 100 yards a game. A banged up Moreno and a fumble prone Ball are not promising against a turnover creating defense like that.
*Peyton has not seen a secondary even close to this all year long. Denver had to play the NFC East this year on their schedule...could they have played any worse defenses???? I think Seattle puts Peyton into tough spots and they will force him into the dink and dunk throws which Seattle is known for picking off.
*The weather is unknown at this point, but you have to believe that any elements that may occur will play in Seattle's favor. Seattle plays in nasty weather more often than they don't I'd imagine, so this has to be a plus on their side.
*Denver has the #1 passing offense...The Saints have the #2. The Seahawks beat the saints twice this year by a combined score of 57-22. Again...this is the best secondary Manning will see all year. He has no way to anticipate their speed of skill level based on what he has played against all year. The best secondary Manning faced all year was the Texans the Giants. They are a very far cry from the level of the Seahawks.
*Also, the #1 offense and the #1 defense have met in the Super Bowl 4 times...the defense is 3-1 in those matchups.
My suggestion...don't overthink this because it is Peyton and all the things he has done this year. He has not faced a team like this and I don't see them matching up well overall. I'll gladly take the 3 points.
Best of luck to you all.

I keep hearing the "I'll take Manning any given day over a defense." That is what 99% of Joe Public is saying which is why the line has moved 4 points since it came out. I'll take the far better rushing team with the best defense the NFL has seen in over a decade in what is almost guaranteed to be less than favorable weather.

XFLrejects posted this earlier and I think it is a very overlooked stat.

"Also interesting to note that SEA has played 7 of their 18 games vs. some of the stoutest defenses in the league hence hampering their offensive #'s somewhat i.e. # 2,3,4 and 7...SF(2),AZ(2),NO(2) and CAR.

Compare that to DEN facing SD, KC and NYG as their toughest defensive foes."

Peyton did some amazing things this year, but let's not forget who he played to do it. The AFC was NOT strong on the defensive side this year. Seattle will give Denver fits.

A lot will depend on whether Manning's legs hold-up......age and coldweather plays havoc with older guys.

Great points and very true... Denver had the 32nd easiest schedule this past season... 32 of 32....Hmmm.

A few more stats to think about...

*Seattle put up defensive numbers not seen since the 2002 Bucs and close to the 85 Bears...in a year where the most points were scored since 1948.
*Everyone talk about how Denver wins and wins big...Denver did have the largest margin of victory of any team this year at 13...and Seattle was second with 11.7.
*And it's already been said but, Denver had EASIEST schedule in the NFL...Seattle had the 11th hardest.

Looking at the stats, one thing to consider is the recent form of both teams. In their last 4 games Seattle has been out gained twice and were basically even last week against the 49ers. However, Seattle was plus turnover margin in each of those games. Denver on the other hand has out gained their last 4 opponents on average by well over 100 yards per game.

In all your stats did you see the one that says. Seattle does not have one player with Super Bowl experience? I also noticed that Denver has many with Super Bowl experience. Its a Long 2 weeks for some youngsters as the College Football proved that. Weather will be an issue for Denver if bad, if not bad weather and light wind Manning "might" shine!

Experience does not win in SB's and rarely covers, let's add up the facts.......................
Brady in his 1st SB VS Warner and the SB champ Rams of just 2 years earlier, 1st time team and QB wins.
Jake Delhome and the 1st timer Panthers VS SB winning Pats just 2 years earlier, Panthers cover.
Mcnabb and the 1st time eagles VS Brady and the defending SB Champs and 2 time champs, 1st time team covers.
Eli and the 1st time Gaints VS the 3 time SB winners, 1st time team wins and covers.
Zona a 1st time team VS Pitt a SB winners just 3 years earlier, 1st time team covers.
Brees and the Saints 1st time SB team VS Manning and Colts SB champs just 3 years earlier, 1st time team wins and covers.
Rodgers and 1st time Packers VS 2 time SB winners Big Ben and Pitt , 1st time team wins and covers.
Yea, go ahead and back the experienced team, you get exactly what you deserve.

Thanks Seer. Saved me the trouble. Russell Wilson is leading this offense and he is mature far beyond his years in his words, actions and his play. Pete Carroll has been in big games before and he will have this team ready. The inexperience card is not really valid.

Taking Seattle over 8.5, -115 in second half. Denver may score, but I don't see how all of the sudden Seattle stops moving the ball or possibly getting another defensive/ST score.

Damn I love it when I call it right on the money. Too bad I can't do it all the time. Congrats to all Seattle backers.
