3 Maywood Park stewards got caught not watching the front end of a harness race. No inquiry or Disqualification resulted because of this. As of now stewards still have their jobs.:think2:

There have been numerous questionable "incidents" at Maywood. The thoroughbred stewards are no better, in fact I think they're worse. Illinois is really a mess when it comes to racing.

i saw a race a ways back 4-5 years ago, a horse cut inside the pylons the entire 3rd turn, went from 6 back to 6 in front, beat my horse by a neck... didnt take him down, stewards said he went inside to avoid a breaking horse, horse that broke was 4 lengths in front of him and steered to the outside, all other horses stayed on the track and went around him, this one went 10 feet inside the pylons and didnt get dq'd, ill never forget that race..

That pylon rule is really open to "interpretation" It's almost like the stewards check their own tickets before they come up with a decision.

i could understand if he went inside the pylons to avoid a horse, but the horse that broke moved to the 2 path, my horse went outside him, and that horse who was behind me went inside the cones the whole turn, it was astonishing to me they didnt take him down, especially since he beat me by a neck... i dont understand harness rules anyway, ive seen horses break on the wire, with 2 horse lapped on and stay up, and horse break 3 strides before the wire, win by 2 and come down.. think your right, they do check their tickets first.

Why not use the video?

The stewards weren't paying attention to the front end of the race, where blatant interference occurred. Race went official before anyone complained. Owner, trainer and driver of horse interfered with filed a complaint and a few days later the winning horse was placed behind the 3rd place horse. The owners got justice but the bettors were screwed. The integrity of Illinois racing is a joke!
