Tomorrow's Venator FC event was set to feature a middleweight title fight between former UFC fighters Jason Miller and Luke Barnatt. The booking of Mayhem was controversial in itself, primarily due to the laundry list of criminal offenses Miller has committed in the US, but Venator FC president Frank Merenda didn't give a rat's ass about those things. In fact, Mayhem was able to travel to Italy for fight week, giving himself clearance to compete for regional promotion gold.
You didn't think it was going to be that simple, did you?
Mayhem missed the middleweight limit so badly that he was way over the light heavyweight limit, too.
Nothing like a good ol' miss by 24 pounds, putting him at 209.
Of course, Mayhem vs. Barnatt is off, but the show must go on! Not only is Barnatt going to be fighting someone else for the title, there's another fighter on the card who could face Mayhem anyway.
Mattia Schiavolin is interested in fighting Mayhem at his current weight. All parties working to finalize now.
