Maybe the Jets will try to trade for Peyton Manning

The End Of The Sanchez Era
JAN 2 2012, 1:00 PM ET
Will Leitch sees the harbingers of doom:

The Jets have all sorts of issues they need to resolve, and missing the playoffs this year assures that the appropriate changes will be made. (We'd be shocked to see offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer still employed by the team in a week, or even a couple of days.) But the biggest change is likely to come at quarterback. Maybe the Jets will try to trade for Peyton Manning, now that the Colts are assured of the No. 1 pick and the option of taking Andrew Luck. (This is hard to take too seriously, though.)*

Maybe they'll draft Robert Griffin III or Landry Jones. Maybe they'll grab another team's castoff just to provide some competition. But Sanchez's free ride is over. The Jets had problems other than Mark Sanchez this year, but he was their biggest one, particularly late in the season. They can no longer deny it, no matter how great everyone wants Sanchez to be. You won't be seeing him on any GQ covers next September. You won't be seeing him in Nextel commercials. And you're unlikely to see him atop the Jets depth chart. You might even be unlikely to see him in a Jets uniform.

It's not like I've got any reason to crow. The Cowboys season ended just as it should--with just enough interest to shoot ratings through the roof, and just enough ineptitude to keep them home this year. Again, what's scary is Jerry Jones can basically do this forever and be flush.

Sorry for getting sidetracked. Pick it up in comments. I'll be rooting for the Ravens.

Sanchez may not be the answer, but imo neither is Manning. Sanchez came out of college too early. He took a step back this season, but he has shown he can drive the team to a win in the last minutes of a game. He needs a good qb coach, and perhaps more reliable receivers. Jets would likely have to give up a lot for Peyton.

Haven't seen him at all since the surgey and he is washed up? And not the same. Any support for your claims? What about Brees after his surgery?

The first step towards improving this team is getting rid of the OC Schottenheimer .
If you watch this team every week like I do you just shake your head at some of the play calls.
Unfortunately today he got a vote of confidence from the GM and the coach. He is interviewing
for the Jacksonville job. Let's hope the Jags are dumb enough to hire him.

I couldn't believe it when i saw the jags were considering him to be head coach after how awful the Jets were this year

This guy called 64 pass attempts against the Giants for a team that is built to run the ball and play defense.
That game should have wrote his ticket out of town . He is under contract for 2013 so unless the Jets eat the
contract or he becomes a head coach we're stuck with him . I'd be on the phone with Norv Turner's agent as soon
as the Chargers fire him .

Yea Peyton is going to end his career in a non domed cold weather stadium.

Jets fans are so cute when they are delusional.
