Charlie Casserly mentioned a few plays where he missed wrs, but to me, the real problem was just horrendous clock management on his part. For the life of me, I ll never understand hiking the ball with 15 seconds on the play clock with Tom Brady on the sideline while you have a lead and your defense is just gassed. Unreal.

He may be a little to blame, but to me 95% of the blame goes to the dumbass call by Shanahan to even pass in that situation. Run twice, let NE use their time outs and kick a fg. I read a lot of articles that said........and my thoughts exactly before I even read them...........that even taking two knees in that situation would have been better than what they did. Even a high school coach would not have called a pass there. It is mind boggling to me that these NFL coaches who make millions can be so dumb.

Yeah that doesn't even correlate to how he was acting on the sidelines up 28-3. Pacing around like the game was tied. Dude sit the fuck down and relax. On the sidelines he was waiting for the clock to run out but when he got on the field he wasn't waiting or running the ball in a game winning situation. It made no sense his actions. I think he had doubt even up 28-3.

you can't say he played well down the stretch, save for one pass that was really more about a remarkable catch

The shame is that catch julio caught will not be remembered as the dagger in the coffin which it should have been.I bet the over and was rewarded with dumb luck as some would say however you would be better to take luck over skill in a poker tournament and not the superbowl. I cant imagine what matty ice is feeling and its possible he will never return to the big stage hopefully he does but you never know. The expression on the falcons owner face when that sack happened was priceless. He knew he was fucked.

Cant find the article, but lets just say Ryan is one of the worst 4th q qbs alive. Shanahan deserves a lion share of the blame, but Ryan cannot take that sack or fumble the ball. I really have no idea the genesis of his matty ice handle but he did look like he needed to take a dump in the second half. Who knows, he keeps the offense on the field for more than 43 plays, maybe we are having a different discussion.

I can't blame Matt Ryan because the coaching staff never should have put him in a situation where he could fail.
