Pats win the SB, and Brady never sees the field in a Pats uniform again.

Nope.. Brady was already on the rise in the organization, and at least looked solid in preseason games. No coaches trust Cassell as apparent with the Kevin OConnell pick, and he was so close to being cut, if it werent for anyone else being able to outperform him. Pats are going to rely on the rest of the team to win games, and for Cassell to just not fuck it all up.

Thats what they get for ignoring the backup QB position for all these years.

I would love to see the Pats fans after they go 6-10 without Brady.

I'd love to see Manning and a couple other guys dust them off 49-0 also.

I keep seeing you make these comments but it is clear you have no idea what you are talking about. Yes, I am a Pats fan, but I am also a realist and not saying this with a bias. Obviously they are not close to the same team as with Brady, but they are still MUCH better than 6-10. If the Bears can make the Super Bowl with Rex Grossman and Lovie Smith at Head Coach, there is absolutely no reason the Pats cannot at least win the AFC East- still have the best coach in the game and are loaded with Pro Bowlers on offense, and their D will finish top 5 or 6, which is par for them. How will the Colts 'dust off' the Pats 49-0 when they cant handle the Chicago Bears at home.. you dont understand parity in the NFL.

The Patriots will go back to their 2001 offense that an in-experienced Tom Brady ran. Cassel will be put into a situation where he is to manage a game and not go out and win the game on his own. I believe that this defense is good enough to hold the opposing offense. That will take a lot of pressure off Cassel. This team is still a playoff team and will win 10 to 12 games.

I agree 6-10 is a little low. I got them at 9-7 or 8-8 now. With still a chance at division and wildcard. But please dont compare the superbowl leading bears defense to you guys defense. Thats why the bears went to the superbowl. Also we will see about that best coach in the game crap without brady and without breaking the rules. We are going to see if he is actually as great as all say he is now.

Sorry to make that unclear- I wasn't comparing this defense to the Bears defense, mostly trying to explain that you do not necessarily need a Pro Bowl QB to make the playoffs, if the surrounding pieces are there. If Cassell were asked to run the offense that we had last year, they might very well be 6-10. But with proper game-planning, the Pats will have a much more balanced attack and focus on running the ball, which I thought needed to be done even before the Brady injury.

do you guys think Culpepper will come into the conversation soon??

No. Bill wants somebody that can run the offense. Not a ego maniac that can throw it up and hopes Randy comes down with it. Trust me I watch this guy most of last season. He is a veteran backup and thats it.

I think they are stuck with Cassel unfortunately. Even bringing in Rattay or Simms, would most likely just to add depth to the roster- not likely you pick someone up after regular season starts and they can learn an offense quick enough to be a starter anytime soon.

Cassel isn't a bad QB guys. This might be more of a reflection of how bad the division is, but I wouldn't trade him for any other starting QB in the division. Don't even try to tell me Brett Favre because you'll never convince me he's still a good QB. Cassel is no Tom Brady, but he's good enough to lead this talented team to at least a 11-5 season, with a decent chance of still winning 13-14 games.

Cassel could be the worst QB in the league and they'd still win that pathetic division with ease. He's good though and they'll still be contenders.

Cassel is more Matt Schaub than Tom Brady.

Man you defending these USC Qbs all over the place today. Next you going to tell me Matt Leinart is good. Look I agree Cassel isnt that bad. But he is the worst the 2nd worst ob in the division. Both Farve and Trent Edwards are better. Chad stinks.

What he said.. Favre and Trent are def better options than Matt Cassel. Favre is not what he used to be, especially looking at his struggles against the poor Fins defense (anyone who watched the game instead of the highlights of his two TDs knows what I am saying). But still, saying you would start Cassel over Favre is absurd, and I have defended Cassel.

The problem this year isn't who is QB ing, it will be how the defense plays now that Brady isn't out there.

I think the defense is not as good as people think and it will show against the better teams during this year. They were lucky to win yesterday against a very conservative offense in KC.

Well now get to see how good Bill is at Coaching, and some of you will be surprised at how many times he screws up this year. Bellicheat got way tooooooo much credit for his offense, when it was nothing more than having the best QB in the league.

Bill cheated and it came back to haunt him with NE losing the SuperBowl. Now it's the top QB in the league who goes down.
Like the saying goes' "What comes around, Go's around" :grandmais
