Why is BC laying 7 points @ home with a QB making his first college start in a game where his team has everything to lose. There will be loads of pressure on Davis in this game before it even starts. I know Maryland struggles to score but what makes anyone think BC is going to be able to score in this game, much less enough to win by more than a score?

Maryland has struggled on the road but these 2 schools are becoming rivals and BC has the most pathetic HFA in the ACC besides Durham. This is a gut check game for the Terps and I don't see them laying down. Especially for this rubberband terps team; they were down last week so they should bounce back this week. Easiest play is probably the under but to me this line makes no sense.

Any local perspective or thoughts?

Terps have looked absolutely horrible at times this year and were destroyed last week at home against FSU. I'm a little biased (although not exactly a big Eagles fan), but this game has so much more meaning for BC and will be at the Heights to boot.

Understood how bad the terps looked last week, but they have rebounded from poor performances all season (am i really trying to make that a selling point?). Can you really trust that young QB to deliver? Last week he gave an anemic wake offense 2 TD's (and very nearly a third).

I don't think alot of the BC home advantage, Maryland is from a similar climate and the BC fan support is very unintimidating. Though they don't have as much to play for I can see the terps standing proud to ruin BC's season. Like FeartheRaven says, every time UMD sucks they seem to bounce back with a better effort.

Thinking hard about a decent play on Maryland, though BC has loooked better recently I think personel is comparable and BC has the major handicap of the rookie qb in such a big spot. Thanks for the feedback so far guys...

Maryland has absolutely nothing to play for and looked dreadful...but that is the perfect spot for Maryland to surprise us. All year they just do the opposite of what you think. Its almost completely unpredictable. Im guessing its going to be a close game but no leans as a Maryland student

Maryland looked horrendous last week as people have mentioned.

BC's defense is one of the best in the country, starting with Spaz as one of the top (if not the best) defensive coordinator in the country.

Davis looked very poor at the beginning of his start but led them on a drive to beat Wake. They will rely heavily on Josh Haden and the run game.

The fan presence won't be great at the game since it's thanksgiving weekend and the weather has been pretty brutal.

If I were to guess I'd see BC winning by 3-4, and could only see a blowout if the defense forces turnovers.

Stay away from this game. Maryland doesn't have much to play for and BC has the ACC Atlantic to play for. The spread is 7, but
it could be a blow out or close. Maryland is not a great road team, better at home. Wouldn't touch this one.

I appreciate the input guys, I guess I can see why the line is where it is. Perhaps the best play is U 41.5 as UMD is averaging 15 ppg in conference and BC will struggle to move the ball with their rookie qb. Davis looked good on the last drive last week but Wake was in a prevent D and gave him all day to make plays.

I really hate playing against home teams who are motivated and have alot to play for. Maryland could cover this. But I hate to predict their state of mind after getting the wind taken out of their sails at home. They not only lost bad, they lost their chance at getting in the ACC title game. Sometimes it's not easy coming back from a loss like that.

You are absolutely right on this point, BC should definately have the motivation in this game. I really don't think that the Maryland mindset will be too fucked by losing their spot in the championship game. Ralphie boy always seems to be able to get his team extremely in tune for what seems like random games. Maryland showed they were not built for the spotlight over the last few weeks and I feel like they perform their best when the pressure is on the other team (witness their 4-0 record versus ranked teams).

I feel like the fact that they layed a complete egg last week versus FSU only sets this team up to bounce back. Maryland is talented enough to hang with any of these teams (maybe im overrating this factor, but a rooker qb starting his first game with a trip to tampa on the line is a pretty important point) who are mired in the upper middle of the conference, and I see nothing to support the idea of a BC domination.

To me the line should be @ 3 points. All the value lies with the terps and if you don't bet them you shouldnt be playing this game

BC looks to have a small edge ats IMO. But, not by much. I think it would either be take BC or nothing in this spot.
