"Vice President Dick Cheney had his family join him on the stage in a demonstration of family values that most Republicans could no doubt relate to: Standing around him was his wife Lynne, daughter Elizabeth, son-in-law, and four grandchildren all together hugging and waving -- while the Cheney's other daughter Mary Cheney and her partner Heather Poe were kept from the stage largely out of view in the family's convention box seating."
I would disown my father if I were her ... pisspoor and no justification for it.
You'd almost think that the Repubs would be able to help sway the gay voters or the pro-whogivesashit voters by officially and publicly acting like regular people do, instead of trying to hide her from sight. What crap.
Mary Cheney wasn't "kept" from the stage. She chose not to go down there, just like she chose in 2000 to visit the stage. From a story in 2000:
"Mary Cheney, the 31-year-old openly lesbian daughter of vice presidential nominee Dick Cheney, was by her father’s side during most of the convention sessions, and vigorously cheered him Aug. 2 when he accepted the party’s nomination. Last night, Mary Cheney appeared on stage holding one of her nieces as balloons and confetti showered the Cheneys, the Bushes and other guests.
Many gay people have been speculating this week about what role Mary Cheney will take between now and Election Day. Philadelphia Gay News reports today that she will take an active roll in her father's campaign, according to Cheney press secretary Dirk Van Der Beek. "
