I put all the money I made in high school into a roth IRA because my dad suggested I do so, and it's just been pretty flat.

I think the return with betting has the potential to make me completely forget about my investment accounts.

A no-win situation for me. My only stock picks, as in actual equities, are generally 3-6 month plays at a minimum, way more than the average gambler likes to wait for his money. Stuff that I do in intraday, like emini trading, forex etc., is somewhat attention-intensive and does not allow for forum musings that would be of use to anyone except as a public record, since unless I happen to post it in real time and you happen to be reading at that exact moment, the trade is useless or very nearly so.

My basic strategy for stocks was posted in the RR last month (here.) It has consistently identified undervalued stocks for me for a long time.
