How was it? Is it really as wild as it's made out to be?

I was just there last weekend, FABULOUS time, weather was kinda crappy, but not bad when snow is the norm this time of year in Illinois.

Its hard to find a place to have a better time!

Today though, is for hard core fanatics only, craziest and most crowded day of all.

Depends where you go...
Mardi Gras in small towns today is the best.
If you want to go the New Orleans for Mardi Gras the nest time is the Friday and Sat before actual Mardi Gras day

Quite a party down here this week, but have to agree that to get a true cajun mardi gras feel ya have to go to some of the smaller towns down here. New Orleans is cool but is more or less now a tourist type mardi gras scene. If ya gonna hit Mardi Gras in N.

the french quarter is near a real crummy neighborhood, so you gotta watch out their are some thugs around. But their are a ton, I mean a ton, of cops around too though so its relatively safe to be there.

I saw a black guy laughing his ass off running thru the crowd, on the run, haul off and land a huge punch in this white guys face for no reason. the white guy then banged his head hard on the sidewalk when he hit. he was REAL messed up. his girlfriend was screaming. not pleasent.

I also saw a drunk guy fall to his death cause he fell off a balcony onto the sidewalk.

overall it is a lot of fun, but crowded. the times I went to new orleans when it wasnt mardi gras were better.

it would be fun to go with angelle and jenny and get them all liquored up and see what happens

but their pretty local and might be too savvy to go nuts for some beads like some girls do there.

Mardi Gras is a blast. Used to go in the last 80's when I had buddies at Tulane. The parades in Metarie were always better since the crowds weren't as rough. Major drinking and partying. Now that I am in my 40's, I prefer to go to New Orleans when it is less crowded to get in and out of the restaurants and bars. Every day of the week is a major party on Bourbon Street.

Its nothing like the old days. Used to be fun now its a job just trying to make it through a day. No place you want to bring kids for sure. They have parades all over Louisiana today not just in New Orleans and they are cancelling some due to dumbasses that just cant help but "pop a cap" for attention. Had a murder in 1 the other day just across the river from me and that has caused them to cancel some others close by. Personally you couldnt pay me to go down there but i guess if you've never been i can see the interest..
