The elder Godwin, a retired foundry worker with nine children and 13 grandchildren, was out looking for aluminum cans, which he collected. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
A man, whom police later identified as Steve Stephens, approached him.
Just before fatally shooting Godwin in a video uploaded to Facebook, Stephens asked him, “Can you do me a favor? Can you say ‘Joy Lane’?”
“Joy Lane?” Godwin, appearing confused, responded.
“Yeah,” Stephens said. “She’s the reason why this is about to happen to you.”
He raised a gun and pulled the trigger.
The camera spun around. When the picture came back into frame, Godwin’s body was on the pavement, an enormous streak of blood beside him.

Damn...yeah, he's saying that he did that shit because he lost everything gambling at a casino. Not 100% percent sure, but I think this happened in Glenville. Hood, but a lot of famous people made it out of there. Jesse Owens, Ted Ginn jr., Troy Smith, Cardale Jones, Steve Harvey, Bone Thugs n Harmony just to name a few. Of course, I don't really know but it seems like, even though he did it on Facebook Live, the cops didn't respond to it. It seemed like he was still riding around close by after he did it..still don't know if he killed more people like he said he did....totally f-----d up situation.
People in here are advocates for casino gambling anywhere and everywhere, and I like poker and blackjack as much as anyone.
But let's be honest, there are real, and sometimes tragic social costs to building casinos. Apparently this guy had posted that he
lost all his money gambling at casinos...
What's the answer? I'm not sure... We clearly as a society have gone past the point of making casino gambling illegal - not that
that is necessarily the answer.
But, we have these multi-million dollar buildings whose sole purpose is to extract money from people, as much money as they can.
And, the clientele in many cases are people that can't afford to lose the money, and who aren't the brightest bulbs on the tree.
I know I'm glad that casinos are against the law in the area that I live in, as I don't want the negative consequences that come with it.
I'll drive the 4 hours to gamble. Is that hypocritical of me? Perhaps...
