Astro's Manager Phil Gardner should have never pitched to Pujols. Reggie Sanders was on deck and every career at bat hes had against Lidge has been pathetic. He looked way overmatched in his at bat last night, Game 4. All you needed is 1 out to win pennant. Sanders is a wayyyy easier than Pujols. Pujols is batting over .400 last 2 years in playoffs. Sanders is like 1-12 against Lidge with 10 strikeouts. This decision was a no brainer in my book.
White Sox benfit greatly because Oswalt will not be available for game 1.

Tough choice

Pujols had not hit all game
He has never homered off Lidge

I agree though...it's tough when you gotta face Albert

A bigger blunder yet that you will never hear mentioned by any of the so called experts is the fact that that ball Eckstein hit would have been fielded had Garner not had the "no doubles" defense on. No way Eckstein was going to pull one hard down the line off Lidge so no reason to have the no double defense on down the third base line. Just should have played the line down first base line. Stupid move and cost the Stros a series birth. Baseball truly is an amazing game and one little thing like that can make all the difference.

That's very true, Oswalt is not on the Cardinals!

Anyone see how overmatched Sanders Looked against Lidge the previous night. This guy has struckout 10 out of 12 at bats against Lidge. Who cares if you move the tying run to Second. Sanders was your man to get final out. Pujols is such a clutch power hitter. Sanders is a automatic out!

Pujols would be my first pick if I was starting a team. A Great player but there is absolutely no way I walk him and put the tying run at second. Great hitters ony hit one out of three for just a hit. An error, a bloop single or abunch of other bad things can happen to tie the game if you walk him. I would take my chances with a gteat reliver against a great hitter every time. Needs a solid double or better to beat you.

You act like the series is going to be over next game...wouldn't be at all surprised to see STL win both games and face the ChiSox in the next round.
don't count the Cards out yet.
