Man Robs Bank, Returns with Money...should he still be charged?

Happened here locally today...

Some guy robbed a bank, came back after hours, banged on the window, gave money back and went off to jail....

Should he still be sentenced as a bank robber?

I will try to find the whole story in the local paper...

I think so on a lesser charge for the fear he likely put in the bank workers.

I wonder if he figured they'd nab him anyway? Maybe he figured he was going to be caught, took the easier way out...Also I would figure the Judge may cut his sentence by 50% perhaps... I'll ask Wapner when he checks in....

I've always has mixed opinions when it comes to the law and cases like this. I don't think he should be charged fully. He DIDNT HAVE TO return the money and may of gotten away with it. We/they always look at the bad side of things and rarely consider the good. Then again, here's another thing that makes things even more questionable in cases like this. A guy rapes a woman and faces trial.Let's say the only reason he is caught is because the lady recognizes him herself. The rapist then testifies in court that he feels his sentence should be lessened because he was going to kill the lady after raping her, to basically eliminate the chance of what just happened, her ever being able to identify him, but he then has a change of heart, sparing her life. Should his sentence not be as severe??

Uhhh...I seriously doubt the charge will be any different. If he didn't have the money, he'd be ordered to pay restitution. This may eliminate that, at best.

You guys act like giving back the money somehow negates the criminal act. He'd have to pay it back in any case, so nothing really changes.

His "change of heart" should've taken place after he thought of it and before he acted.
