KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating after a man said he was robbed of $6,000 he had just won at Harrah’s North Kansas City Casino. Chuck Stanway told FOX 4 he spent a few hours at the casino on Thursday, then headed to his home on North Drury Avenue. That’s where he said he was robbed by two men.
“I didn’t even get two feet outside my garage, that’s when they were there,” he told FOX 4.
Stanway said he thinks the two men might have followed him home from the casino. He said they both had guns and demanded he hand over his wallet. Police believe the suspects ran north away from the house, but they don’t have anybody in custody or a description of the men.
“When you have a gun staring down at you, you would never imagine that,” Stanway said. “It’s the worst feeling in the world.”
Stanway said the two men had on gloves and masks, so he couldn’t see what they looked like. He said it was 5:30 p.m. when he got home and it robbery happened in broad daylight.
Staff at Harrah’s want to remind people they can get their winnings in the form of a check or deposit them inside at an ATM before leaving the building.

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) --
Police say a man, who won $12,000 at the SugarHouse Casino, was robbed as he returned to his South Philadelphia home
It happened around 5:00 Saturday morning on South Mildred Street.

The victim says he took a taxi home and the moment the cab dropped him off, a masked gunman came out of nowhere.

"'Get on the ground or I'll kill you.' I put my hands up and I actually laid in my neighbor's - she's got a little bed of rocks next door and there was a flower pot there. He said, 'Put the pot over your head, don't look at me or I'll put a bullet in your head.' He reached in both my pockets and took everything that I had. When I got up and actually called the cops I had 50 cents in my pocket," said the victim, who we are not identifying.

The gunman fled by car and the victim immediately called police.

Police were able to track pings on the victim's stolen iPhone and they chased two suspects through South Philadelphia and right back to the casino in Philadelphia's Fishtown section.

One of the suspects abandoned a dark blue Nissan and fled into the casino on foot before being caught in the men's room.

The victim was able to identify one of the men.

Sources tell Action News that two suspects are being held at South Detectives. Their names have not yet been released.

An aspiring professional poker player was sentenced Wednesday in Long Beach to eight years and eight months in state prison for following women home from two casinos and robbing them.
Dominick Blair Roberson, 27, of Paramount, was convicted Oct. 31 of four counts of second-degree robbery and one count of attempted second-degree robbery for the series of follow-home robberies – most of which occurred in October 2015.
Roberson followed three women home from the Hawaiian Gardens Casino, robbing a 50-year-old victim of $1,000 in cash and her purse in Long Beach, taking about $3,100 in cash and a purse from a 41-year-old woman in Westminster and robbing a 51-year-old woman of at least $2,000 at her home in La Puente, according to Deputy District Attorney Brian Kang.
Roberson also followed a woman from the Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood to her home in Torrance, where he robbed her of at least $6,000 in cash, according to the prosecutor.
The defendant had unsuccessfully tried to rob a Westminster resident after following him home from the Hawaiian Gardens casino and confronting him in his driveway, but the man was able to get away, Kang said.
The prosecutor described Roberson as an aspiring professional poker player who subsequently used money from one of his female victims to gamble at a casino.
He was arrested at a Gardena casino in November 2015.

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -A man was arrested and accused of assaulting a 71-year-old woman with a tire iron after following her home from a casino the night before.
The beating happened Friday morning in 71-year-old Patsy Whitten's driveway. She was left with bruises across her body.
Shelby County Sheriff's Office said surveillance video from Southland Park Gaming and Racing showed Michael Mahone followed Whitten out of the casino the night before he attacked her. The next morning, when he attacked Whitten with a tire iron and took her credit cards, driver's license, and $400 in cash.
"I was fighting for my life and he kept telling me he was going to kill me," Whitten said.
Investigators said surveillance video showed Mahone following Whitten out of the West Memphis casino.
"We saw that he followed her when she cashed out, and he followed her to her car in the parking lot," SCSO Deputy Chief Floyd Bonner said.
Mahone was arrested Wednesday morning at Resorts Casino in Tunica.
Deputies said Mahone has a lengthy criminal record. In fact, he was on probation for an attempted bank robbery out of Little Rock, Arkansas, when Whitten's attack occurred.
SCSO is waiting for Mahone to be extradited to Shelby County. He's being held in Tunica County on a $2 million bond.
"I can't stress it enough for you to be aware of your surroundings," Bonner said. "They're also urging us all to call police if you feel you're being followed and to always comply, don't try and fight back."
Safety Tips
Our days are filled with multi-tasking, especially as we walk to our cars. We're on the phone, carrying bags, and focused on getting to our next destination. But daily distractions keep people from being alert to others around them - others who may be watching.
"We have to pay better attention. We have to look for our safety. We have to look around us," former law enforcement officer Marti Miller said.
Miller stresses the importance of being aware of the other drives around you.
"Pay attention. Look around you. If you see the same headlights go through a subdivision, go right, go left. If that car is still following you, go and pull into a driveway or pull up along the side of the street and see if it continues to come," Miller said.
If the driver continues to follow you, Miller said it's time to call the police.
She said stay on the line with dispatch and drive straight to the nearest police station. It's a simple move that could save your life.
