Compared to CR the Dutch looked awesome.
As I said no sweating just yet. However if they reached the SF, I might be getting a few butterflies in my stomach here and there.
But IMO the books agree with me at this point cause if you wanted to hedge it would be around -7500
Not much money can be made hedging against CR just yet ( for the original bettors)
+1.
That's why books aren't flipping out yet. I had the same experience betting Atletico Madrid in the Champs League this past year...I had them at +1800 on a win future for a fairly large amount, yet the lines in each round prohibited me from hedging all the way through the freaking final. I ended up having to take a horrendous beat on a 93rd-minute equalizer by Real Madrid, who went on to win in extra time. RM was something like -270 to life the trophy...which would have only allowed me to guarantee myself about a third of the potential $9k profit.
The other realty is CR really hasn't played any solid teams yet. England? Historically very overrated. Italy's players had some issues bitching among themselves, and their coach just called it quits. Uruguay turned out to be fool's gold. And if Greece's opponents stepped off the field, it'd probably take the Greeks 20 mins to cross midfield with the ball.
Don't get me wrong...CR has really shown some mettle during this WC and deserve all the credit in the world for their run. I just don't think they have enough to get past the Dutch, despite Holland's habit of choking at the worst possible moments.
