ESPN reporting Lute to step down.

Sad to me, as I've known Lute for 17 years and played for him in the early 90's as a walk on. A class act who taught his kids to be good people and prepared you for the NBA. His track record speaks for itself. Yes, he has slipped over the past 3-4 years, but poor health and family issues are the factors.

Adios to a legend.

Any specific reason you know of? Or just started practice and no longer any desire.

It's also pretty sad that he forced Kevin O'neil out who already had his system established. IMO O'neil would have been the better man to coach the team to begin with. His demand for defense was a welcome change to many Arizona fans.

Last time I saw and spoke with him (summer 07) he was having health issues that were being kept under wraps.

O'Neill was run out because he was undermining Lute with alumni. Recruits were not willing to play for him either which is a shame because he would've been a great choice to follow Lute.

I wonder if we'll still see his name implanted on that court ?
