Besides having a cool dad ...

Walton becomes the youngest active coach in the NBA

Walton unofficially won 39 of 43 games as interim head coach of Warriors this season. Byron Scott: 38 wins in last 2 seasons (lost 126)

Walton will become the 8th former Lakers player to go on to coach the team

Coaching is not the problem.

Mitch Kupchak needs to go.

All of Jerry West's players are gone now.

He rode the coat tails of Jerry West for quite a few years.

The team is now a joke with no signs of improvement for at least 5-10 years.

Rumors flying around that Phil Jackson may come back to the Lakers as GM for 3-4 years.

Poor Byron Scott he had to deal with Kobe and the whole Kobe Bryant farewell tour then they canned him. Talk about a no win situation. :ohno:

If Phil comes back to GM , this team might not get out of the hole for quite some time...at least I hope so

being a huge laker fan im happy with the signing. glad we went with a young coach. need to to a lil clean up in the front office, sign a nice free agent with kobe's money, and use this lottery pick wisely and we are back in the playoffs again. i know its gonna be some time till can even talk bout more success than that but at least its a step in right direction rather than picking an older coach.

He is doing a fine job, if not for David Stern stopping the trade for Chris Paul, thinks would be much different in Lakerville.

1-0

Nice start Luke:

In a fun, high-scoring game that featured an energized Staples Center, the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Houston Rockets 120-114 to give their coach, Luke Walton, his first official victory as an NBA head coach. Walton had previously guided the 2015-16 Golden State Warriors to a 39-4 record as an interim coach, but officially, Wednesday night went down as Walton's first victory as an NBA coach.
