tough to blame this one on LSU. They had Feleipe Franks committed for a long time and were shocked when he decommitted in NOV/DEC to give Florida a verbal. That's the tough part of recruiting...catch 22 as kids don't want to sign if you already have a 4-5 star commit and you tell that commit you aren't looking at any other QB in the same class. Suddenly Franks flips to Florida and LSU is left to either flip someone else or sign a guy outside the top 20 of that position. The guy they signed last year was not highly thought of and will likely never play for them (mcmillan i think his name is) so expect them to look for a graduate transfer as insurance for brandon harris
franks is likely off the table as he is supposed to enroll at Florida on Sunday
Franks is Florida bound, and I'm happy about that....but you're right. It left LSU high and dry. They put all their eggs in his basket. LSU is recruiting the kid committed to Maryland (Haskins, I think) very hard. But he's a Maryland HS kid, and w/ Durkin being hired there is "excitement" in the program. I'd be surprised if LSU flips him.
It's concerning that LSU came a ****-hair away from firing Miles. That has to cause some friction and instability there. I think Miles is a great coach (probably top 5 outside of Saban & Meyer). Their offensive struggles are about as head scratching as Florida's have been (UF has been outside the top 70 since 2010, the year after Tebow left). It's inexcusable for a program like LSU to be so bad offensively.
The problem at LSU (and UF....and most of the SEC) is poor QB play. Maybe Harris will mature/grow up in the off-season and put together a great season in 2016? If not, it'll be a lot of Fournette and a lot of hoping that a D doesn't shut him down and force Harris to throw.
