She knew her ex boyfriend killed people, she knew her ex boyfriend dealt drugs, she stored money and drugs for her ex-boyfriend and also covered up the fact he killed someone by renting him a rental car in her name.

Exactly right. Which makes it a tough conversation that no one wants to have, and probably why it's not fixed.
One side thinks it proves inferiority while the other thinks it proves systemic racism. Maybe generations of slavery might have something to do with it. Generations of broken homes and being told when, where and what in a whole community. Probably not something that's going to fix itself in a few generations without help, and maybe the way we go about it has probably slowed down progress rather than helped.
